Hi! My R6 which is configured for 1 HD reciever (1st position) and 1 HD DVR Reciever (2 inputs). We are using Directv. The unit is properly wired as per KVH config drawing (with KVH supplied parts). The main problem we are having is after awhile of sitting the sat goes searching for a signal for no reason. When it does it never finds it. I have to shut off the control box and turn it back on. It will be fine for awhile. It has just started doing the same thing while we are in motion. It would get lost and have to be reset. We have not had a chance to turn on the sleep mode that Peter had explained how awhile back. Any ideas?? Paul

I had a similar problem with my KVH L3 on my last coach. It turned out it was the receiver that caused it not the dish. The antenna must receive feedback from the receiver and I guess it stopped doing it or something. A new receiver seemed to correct the problem.

Are you changing channels when it occurs? Different channels are on different birds and the antenna must change position.
Either way, you still have a problem.

Hi! No. If I leave the dish on 202 (CNN) a great channel for testing, the dish will be lost in space a few hours later when we get back. Maybe Peter has the answer with it being the receiver? Paul

I don't have KVH, but when stationary, we locate the sat and then turn power to the sat dish off. Only use the receiver and TV.

The KVH R-6 can not be turned off like the R-5 as it will also stop the signal and, no picture. The R-6 must be on at all times when using. It therefore must be programmed to the "Sleep" mode for extended stays.

Hi Peter! When I am sitting still I may ask you how to do that again. Paul

No problem Paul. You only have to program it once and it will stay that way forever.

Not sure if it's a similiar issue, but symptoms sound the same. I found I needed to use a separate 'clean' 12v power supply for both my old L3 and now R5 antennas.
KVH said they are encountering some mfgrs that tie the power directly to the coach 12v supply, but they often have too much electrical noise (inverter/converter, florescent lites, etc) for the units and it keeps getting glitched and begins the re-hunting process each time.
I had a Radio Shack for the L3 and got the KVH supply with the R5, works perfectly.

I did the same on my L3 as Ronboc. On mine the noise would only cause problems when the voltage was fairly low. The addition of the 12v power supply seemed to correct the issue.

Hi! After having other issues with a RS type power supply we got the KVH power Supply which solved those issues. I will have to call KVH to figure out how to fix my current nonsense. Paul
