Kwikee series 32 step

i am having trouble with my steps. they will not retract. i have forgotten what off and on for the switch in the control panel means. since i have taken them for granted as they have always worked, i'm not sure if on means they open and close with the door or if they stay closed. DUH..

Off means you are turning OFF the Auto Retract, but the steps should still Auto Retract when you start the engine.

Have you checked the Fuse?

If fuse is good check door switch. Mine failed and steps would not retract.

Look in the bathroom next to your breaker panel. Or in the bedroom. On newer models it's in a compartment forward of the drivers front tire. You are looking for a 12 volt fuse panel.

I found a fuse box under the dash on the drivers side but I can't find a diagram showing what each fuse goes to. Anyone have one? The fuse panel in the bedroom doesn't list the steps.

For reference only look at the gas coach set of information
Posted this for someone else to refer to.

CAUTION:When your working under coach and steps make sure your body is away from steps or they will crush you.

Perhaps it's time to call Newmar on Monday? They should be able to tell you exactly where the fuse is and hopefully email you diagrams of all fuse panels.

Ok, so the fuses are good. Can I test just this part instead of doing the test with the four way plug? If so, what are the steps to do so? Thanks everyone.

APPLY 12v battery to the red and white leads. Looks like casing is corroded and the gear inside maybe also.
Just had to replace mine pivot for gear would tilt the gear out of its pivot point.
Ordered from American RV in Calfi.
Order the correct setup.

That's actually red and yellow. I suppose it doesn't matter does it? Just put red to positive and yellow to ground right?

You reverse leads so it moves in opposite direction.

The motor can be acquired at a junk yard from a drivers side Ford power window vehicle, think we found one out of an explorer and the gear box/pivot arms can be found on amazon, we found both much cheaper than the rv places that wanna update it
