Does anyone know the Kwiklee Step fuse location(s)? My steps were working fine and now they have stopped. The batteries are fully charged so I'm thinking it may be the fuse(s). I have a 2000 Dutch Star DP mounted on a Spartan frame.

May want to check the magnetic switch on entrance door frame for loose wire connection or ground to chassis frame for step ground and fuse should be in outside compartment under drivers seat.

I think the first year for a fuse cabinet under the driver's seat was 2004, but the 2000 doesn't have that cabinet.

I would first check the in-dash fuse panel in front of the steering wheel. If not there try the cabinet forward of the battery compartment.

My manuals and wiring diagrams are out in the motorhome, but can get them if it can't be found in the locations mentioned.

I have a 1999 DSDP on a Freightliner chassis. It has a fuse box under the dash, upright but toward the floor. The step fuse is #7.

I hope this helps!

Update on my problem. I went over today and here's what I found:
- Chassis batteries are 12.7V
- All three (3) step fuses are good - are their more fuses and if so, where
- All ground wires (#10 ga green) are good and solid
- "Step Light" is working with "Step" switch switched 'On' (which means the door should open)
- The magnetic door switch looks like it lines up ok but I don't know how to check power to the switch since it is behind the door mounting frame. Any ideas as to how to do this?
- Checked 12V coming into Control Module (Red wire) and it has 12V coming to the module. That's the extent of my electical expertise. I guess I could check 12V going to the 'Motor' as well.

I went to www.kwikee.com and there is no customer service/tech support telephone line that works. Kept getting a busy signal - something like a 'all circuits busy' fast beep so I wasn't able to ask the manufacturer what they think. Does Kwikee not accept calls from customers or do I have to go to a dealer?

I think I have a '22 Series' with a motor assy #9095 02000. Couldn't find any info on the Control Module

Should I get out my sledge hammer and see if I can make it work?

What if you turn the step switch off. On my 04 KSDP turning the switch off forces the step motor to open with the door and remain open (down) until the engine is started. The magnetic switch may also be sticking as the door magnet pulls it in.
Did you check the light under the steps for any status change?

I turned the Step switch OFF and it made no difference. As I understand it, when you turn the Step switch OFF that allows the steps to open & close everytime the door is opened. When it's ON, the steps stay in the extended position all the time and the step LIGHT is always ON.

Do you know how to check the Magnetic Door Switch to see if it is functioning properly?

On ours it's just the opposite. Switch on= steps open and close with door, light underneath is ON with door open, steps out, light is off when steps retract. Switch OFF= steps always out untill motor is started, light is always OFF. I assumed you would turn the switch off when camping to extinguish the light and save the batteries.
My coach comes home next week, I have full schematics.
The switch is a reed switch similar to a burglar alarm. If you can follow the wires to the control box and measure continuity between the wires you should be able to determine any fault if no status change with door open or closed.

I wanted to update those who were kind enough to help me. I am still without steps. After reading your replies I loaded up my tools and started to work on the steps when I hit the biggest problem of all: whoever worked on the steps before I bought the rv installed the clevis pin backwards causing the cotter pin to be on the 'blind' side (looking at the linkage from under the rv with the steps retracted). With the steps extended you could remove the clevis pin easily but when they are retracted (stored position) you can barely get you hand in the tight space with no room to remove the cotter pin and you certainly couldn't get a pair of pliars to help close the cotter pin to remove it. I can see the cotter pin clearly from outside the rv via a 1/4" space between the frame and the top step but I can't get to the cotter pin to remove it.

Any ideas??? Will I have to remove the complete step frame and all to remove the cotter pin so that I can manually open the steps?

It would be nice if there was some simple "something" that would allow you to manually lower the steps.

Please help me if you can.

Just an off-the-top-of-head, wild-azz guess, but would a straight-blade hacksaw (or hacksaw blade) do the job? Even if you had to saw the clevis-pin head or the end where the cotter key is installed... they are easily available at hardware stores.

The steps in your motorhome are fed from two different sources - one with the ignition on and one with it off. Another fuse you haven't mentioned is in the electric bay where your power cord enters the motorhome. Remove the plastic cover over the BIRD and other wiring and you will see fuses hanging down on pigtails. One of those fuses is labeled "steps."

Have you tried extending and retracting the steps with the ignition both on and off?

I would unplug the connecter and clean the conections and make sure they are making good continuity. also even if the ground wire looks good I would take it loose at the frame and clean it also. even if you disconect the motor I do not thimk the steps would be useable as there would be nothing to hold them out in place.
