The ones I bought from Newmar are listed as warm white and have a warm color to them. Brightness is also fine for us. On low setting in my coach (6volt) they have a whiter color than halogen but my wife and I think they will be fine for us. Try one on a single lamp circuit.

think if i had time would go in the led bulb selling business. oops, no time, busy just kickin back. Did learn about " color rendering " index or CDI, sometimes listed as CR. Higher the number= the light that is easy on the eyes, doesn't make stuff look washed out. Most leds have lower rating than incandescent or halogens and is often not listed on web sites. Look it up if you get time. Site that has good info is donsbulbs. Says it like it is.

Meant to say "CRI", not CDI for color rendering index. OOPS.

We replaced the push in bulbs in our 1995 Conquest with led garden light bulbs. In our 1998 Itasca it was necessary to replace the fixture before we could install the bulbs.Got the fixtures at Camping World and the bulbs at Home Depot. Single light fixtures around $5and doubles about $8.Bulbs are $14 each.

I saw about .9 amps with halogen on the high setting and .13 with led. Temps were +140 at the center of glass with halogen and 82 with led @70 ambient and 15 minutes on time for each. Not in a lab but what I saw in my coach on a single lamp circuit. These are for the former halogen puck lamps.

I replaced every bulb in my coach (running lights/tail aready LED). My coach has the intellitec switching system with dimmers and all the LED's dim just as the halogens did. Buying in lots of 100, the puck replacements were $2.53 ea. including shipping. Be sure you get non polarized ones. I used the vendor AprilTang on DHgate. Good people.

FYI about LEDs.
SMD refers to Surface Mounted Device or Diode.
5050 refers to size of the diode 5.0mm x 5.0mm and respectfully,
3528 refers to 3.5mm x 2.8mm.
The 5050 emits about 3 times the light as the 3528 led.
Polarized means negative to negative and positive to positive connections required to work the light.
Non polarized means can be cross wired and will work either way.
Non polarized is accomplished by the addition of a bridge recifier usually mounted on the back of the board. Some rectifiers are larger than others and may obstruct when mounting in puck lights. The fixture can be removed and re-wired to correct polarity.
Warm white Leds are about 4500 kelvins, where bright whites are about 6500k. Natural white is in the middle, but harder to find. Watch out for the bright whites, brighter light, but bluish light and "cold". The 10w halogens like those found in many RV lights are around 3200K.
The G4 replacements for puck lights are side pins and the bulb cannot be turned around to correct polarity issues as one can with other types of bi-pin bulbs.
Bayonet base leds are polarized, but the bulb fits only one way (1157 double contact) or makes no difference in 1141 single contact.
Most LEDs are dimmable.
Hope this is of use to those converting to LEDs.
I recommend it.

I got my LEDs from this source and as you can see they are 15 chip!!

Not cheap but worked fine in our 2011 DS...

Main reasons we switched halogen pucks to led is we do like to dry camp and not use genset. Our current 3 panel solar tracking system can run most of our coach when used conservatively. Plans are to have 2 more 3 panel systems that should equal about 2500 watt of flat panel stuff. If we didn't like quiet dry camping would still have halogens.

(deleted - misunderstood which halogen bulb Deek was asking about - thought it was the cooking halogen, which cannot be replaced by LEDs)

Our micro/convection is directly over the gas cooktop. Have seen some info about leds not liking heat much but so far in about 1 month of use (GE Advantium 120) no problems. Longer term unknown.

So it has been 2+ years since last post to this. I would really love to replace our halogens but I can tell you 3000 to 3500 K is pretty white light. Regular incandescent or the halogens we have are more like 2500 to 2700 K.

Has anyone found warmer (ie 2700K) LED replacements yet?

If you look through the QT's # 3 link there is a whole section on lighting of every type plus coach lighting on body, to much to load here.
If you find nothing let me know and we will hunt for what you need and if its possible.

007 - Thanks. I found this thread from the QTs section. You are correct there are a number of threads in there and I have read at least 4 of them. I think I'm mostly set now but still do have a few questions. I'm going to call M4Products and see if they can help me with some of my questions directly.
