Lee's RV sells to Camping World

Got an email this morning from a sales associate at Lees that this great dealership has been sold to camping world and all inventory is on sale at deep discounts. Really sad to see this great dealership being sold. They have been a great asst to our community for a lot of years and have always offered great service. Thanks Lee for a great 30 plus years of doing business the right way! You will be missed and we hope you continue posting on irv2.

Lee will continue in the business. He's going to be a Regional Sales Manager for CW.

Hate to hear this, Camping World in my opinion, does not have the service mindset to maintain customer loyalty. Sure they're usually convenient and worth a stop for supplies but I would not take a $600,000 + motorhome there for service. I have always felt like I get better service at an owner operated service center.

Seems like Newmar dedicated dealers will be far between as in the Northeast area, only one we have left for sales is Dave's RV in CT. and Dave's Trucking in MA. for maintenance.

I was at Lee's about 10 days ago trying to work a deal on a used Mt Aire. I asked the sales person if Newmar was going to keep Lee's as a dealer with CW now owning it. He indicated that they were and CW was hoping this might lead to Newmar putting rigs in other CW sites.

I did not do the deal on the Mt Aire for several reasons, but CW owning Lee's was a negative tick mark on reasons not to do the deal there. I am not a CW fan.

While headed to Alaska in 09, we stopped in Boise, ID and I called CW to get an oil change. Got a time to be there and at that time, I had the rig there. I kept waiting and waiting for them to get done. Service guy finally told me he did not know how to deal with people who were fulltimers and could not leave their rig there for several days. WOW.

Thank you for the kind words. Yes, I am selling the dealership and land to Camping World. However, I will still have my office there and will work out of it as well as some at home. I will also visit from time to time, some other Camping World dealerships in some neighboring states. They also want to me to help with some acquisitions. We will still be a Newmar dealer and pretty much everyone will be staying. However, we did promote Martin Hubbartt to Service Manager, which has been well received by customers and our service personnel.

While all Camping World accessory stores are pretty much standard as to product offering in a neat, clean environment, the dealership is run by the same personnel. That means the dealership retains its reputation, whether it is good or not. CW will get you whatever training you need, so even the good should get better. Other than that, CW pretty much leaves you alone. Lee

Lee is a great guy, a real personality, and a "deal maker". With that said, I hope he still has enough in him to overcome the corporate pressures he will have to endure. I'm sure, with his health issues over the past few years, he has his "eye on the prize", and this sale was step one to his personal karmady.
