Leveling jack problem
I have a 2002 Newmar Mountain aire and have difficulty with the driver side jack. I have the HWH 310 leveling system. the jack will come down but will not retract. the others work fine. Also, when it sits a while, you hear one of the jacks let go the pressure. Sounds like oil is escaping somewhere. In the manual, it shows shows the electrical Box connection with fuses, but I can not find where that electrical box is with all the fuses it shows. I would think the fuse must be okay if it extends, yet is doesn't go in. Any help with this?

The jack piston may need to be cleaned when extended with some
WD-40 applied to the shaft. Wipe shaft down Than operate the system a few times.
Make sure the fluid level is between the two lines on the bell vent in tank with all jacks retracted.
If that does not work than it maybe necessary to replace the jack. The JACK can be ordered from HWH last one I replaced was about $ 412 shipped because the jack outside housing was rusted and leaking.
Had another one where the rings inside around piston shaft twisted and piston could not move unless jack pad was dropped on block after lifting the chassis frame.

The jacks are retracted by the springs. If you still have your originals, you might want to replace them.

Hi harvey59,
Jack springs retract the jack. Look at the springs. There is the twisted spring part and then a hook on each end. When looking at the twisted spring part where it becomes a hook, is the spring part straight or tapered to the hook? If it is straight, consider replacing the springs. The tapered spring is the more recent design. Lastly, if the springs and cleaning the piston are only temporary fixes, the jack will need to be replaced. Some jack cylinder rings collapse onto the piston. Extending is okay but the springs are not able to overcome the added friction of the cylinder ring.

If it is leaking down while extended, you have more than a spring problem. Time for a new jack.
You might want to upgrade the springs but that is a whole other issue.

I thank you for the posts. In the tests conducted, It was the jack that needs to be replaced. I received an email from HWH on how to test it. His quote:
. "One way to test it yourself is to extend the cylinder down about an inch or so and remove the hydraulic line from the jack and see what happens. If the jack stays put then the issue is with the cylinder and it will have to be replaced or sent to HWH for repair. If the jack retracts without any help the issue is up the line someplace and further trouble shooting will be required."
I've replaced it and it works fine.

Well, I'm not so sure it's the jack itself. Today they are replacing a solenoid for a leaking down jack on my 3 month old coach.

Your trouble was further up the line , I have a solenoid the handle corroded off so can't open the valve needs replacement on ten year coach.
One jack corroded on side casing had a fluid leak replaced and one other twisted rings inside cylinder also replaced.
Stuff just happens over time like getting old and worn out.
