Yes, that happened to me when I installed a new LED Samsung... made me mad to see that they didn't provide a "RCA audio out".
You should have a headphone output jack, which is what I used. I then made up a mini stereo plug to right and left RCA adapter. You can find the same type of adapter at Radio Shack.
The problem with using the headphone jack is that when the mini plug is plugged in, it will shut off the TV speakers. That isn't very convenient for me since I have to use the in-dash radio to route the sound to the house speakers. That means that when I turn on the TV I have to have the in-dash radio turned on and set to AUX input to get sound from the TV. So, in order to have immediate sound when I turn on the TV, I leave the mini plug unplugged until I want to use the house speakers.
Those mini plugs come in two types... one that cuts out the sound when plugged in and one that will not cut out the sound when plugged in. I would like to change it, but haven't had the motivation to open the TV yet.
Hope this helps...

You did say it's an LG right. Lucky Goldstar, or as I like to say YOU ARE LUCKY if a Goldstar product works
you need an optical to analog translator let me see if I can find one. Well not on the first search ( USB Microphone, Stereo Microphone, Microphone, Preamplifiers, Digital Recorders, Cables and more at Rock Bottom Prices from The Sound Professionals - Great deals on Microphone, Preamplifier, Digital Recorder, Cable and more!) will try another search.. NOTE: Chris at that url may be able to do a better search than I can.. I know they make them, I have one.
Got lucky on the second search: Google: Digital to analog converter Here is an example of what I found.
Digital Coax&Optical Toslink to Analog Audio Converter on eBay!

That sounds like it is a much better solution to my problem... would keep me from having to swicth on two units to get the sound I want, however a little more expensive.
Any negative effect on the sound?
Ron

If you have one of these feeding out of your new LCD into this unit that was found on 2003 Newmars, the LCD sound will feed into your radio speaker system.
2003 coach AUX-300
Even better I can feed LCD audio into the DVD Surround System I installed in my coach.
Thanks for the link wa8yxm.

It is the old LG thing.. LG = Lucky Goldstar or as I say: You are LUCKY if a GOLDSTAR product works without modification or service.
I recently commented on one group of people that I'd never met one I did not like.
I say the same thing about Goldstar and LG products wave for it is the other way around.. I have never met one that I liked, not once, NEVER, have I had one work right, 100% out of the box. .. Though I do have one I managed to modify so it works well. But I had to work on it, actually re-engineer part, and put in a "Foreigen" component (GE part) to make it work right.
At least with this TV, the "mod" is easy.

way8xm, if you had so much trouble with LG (and i agree they are the cheap built unit that walmart imported to undercut prices years ago so what can you expect) why on earth do you keep buying them. I had one many years ago, trashed it and vowed to never own another one. Good friend of mine built a huge new house and his good friend in the house electronics business sold him a houseful of lg units. Several had power supplies go out within 18 months and they cost almost as much to replace as the whole tv. Just hard to understand why folks keep buying this junk. all just my opinion, you are entitled to yours of course. But for me I will NEVER buy another lg product.

I do not knowingly or willingly buy LG products.. In fact the only one I have actually bought, MYSELF, is the Insignia Digital Video Converter, Did not find out till later it was made by LG.
Computer monitors.. I did not buy 'em, I sold 'em, They had the contract for the brand I sold for a while, (It was NOT renewed) Microwave 1: Was purchased for the office where I work by someone else, Against my recommendation,, Microwave #2 is the Dometic branded unit in my motor home.. IT was purchased by Damon/Thor. The VCR (Zenith) was purchased by Damon/Thor as well.
So I am not the one buying them, or if I do buy them (One time) the fact it is made by LG is hidden under another brand.
That said. I will admit the Digital TV converter's issues are minor.. If you do not change channels at least every few days it will freeze and you have to unplug it (not all that easy here but cutting off 120vac is easy) It is the best, of the worst as it were.
The problems with the microwaves were major.. The Dometic the turntable would not turn, I had to enlarge an opening so the shaft could go farther onto the drive motor, and replace the drive motor with a GE part.
The one at the office was a different model.. Tried to burn the place down.
The VCR, Well it was a simple adjustment, but i don't have the tools needed and a technician costs more than a brand new PANASONIC VCR. (So does the needed tool) In any case, the Panasonic has since been replaced by a DVR, Much nicer.
