Lifting Kountry Star fifth wheel?

Hi bought a new truck last year and it sits higher than the old dually. Of coarse now the trailer is unlevel when connected to the truck. Can't lower the hitch or pin because of bed rail clearance. I've read of building a sub frame or "flipping" the axles. Actually I think repositioning them under the springs is a better description. Anyone with experience with this. I'm concerned about alignment and safety. Any other suggestions? I wonder who could do this? Sounds like a bigger job than a dealer could do. Thanks. John

We did that to our first 5er, it is something we gladly paid to have done. You can call a trailer sales place like sells those enclosed trailers. They can tell where to get it done if they don't do it. Classic trailer sales did ours. It isn't too expensive and they know what they are doing. Good luck.

Flip the axles, have a trailer place do it, they should do it right and make sure the axles stay in alignment. I had to do it on my Jayco fiver, the 4X4 suspension on my F-250 made the truck too high to tow with the trailer axles in the factory set position. Now it tracks true with enough space between the trailer and the sides of the truck bed, as you can see by the picture in my signature.

Flipping the axles, depending on the tube diameter/spring depth, will raise the trailer 6>8". If you don't need that much then you will need to explore other options. The brake backing plates need to be turned to keep them operating correctly, and alignment checked & adjusted. Remember that as you raise the 5th your center of gravity goes up too; too much raise can make it handle like a bucket of slop.
