I have a number of the ceiling low voltage puck lights that are out in my 08 MA. My coach is in storage and need to know the bulb size and wattage and does anyone know where is the best place to buy them?

Thanks in advance..

MA4529,
The lights in your ceiling are halogen. Any rv dealer should stock them. I found that many times the connection is not good and a slight tap or wiggle of the bulb will bring the light back on.
Thanks, Daryl

Those lights do go out a lot. You should also notice that they get really hot. If the RV place doesn't have them, I found some at a Marine place.

They are 12v and 13w or some unusual wattage. Sorry I can't remember exactly what. Someone posted here a couple of times that they get them on eBay in bulk and for a good price.

The fine print on the base of Halogen bulbs that Newmar installs says 10V 12W (yes I got that right). Certainly, this might lead to the frequency of burning them out. I replace them as they burn with bare bones standard 12V 10W halogens, you really can not tell any difference.

I buy them off the internet at bulbs.com for about $1.50/ea. Get a handful each time you order, they'll come in handy and far cheaper than at the store.

Well, Roadpilot has me beat, 1000bulbs.com it is from now on!!!

If you are talking about the little halogen 12v 20w bulbs, I assume you know you should never touch these bulbs with your bare fingers. They will not last long if you do. Something about skin oil. Sounds crazy, but it's true.

Wear rubber gloves, or use a plastic bag to install them. Do that, and they last as long as any other bulb, or longer. Don't do it, and they will burn out soon.

You don't need bulbs, you need a better connection with the socket. Newmar will do this for you. A new bulb will do the same thing, shortly, unless the socket is adjusted.

ricere is correct about changing out those light bulbs,LIGHT BULBS, to be on the safe side cover the bulb with cloth or glove and you will keep the oil off bulb.

FYI. the ceiling bulbs are 10w not 20w see my post above. 20w in those fixtures will cause heating damage.

That's a coincidence that this post is about the 10 watt bulbs. A couple of weeks ago I wrote this article and released it this morning. Check it out. LINK

Great article Peter, save for the hilarious typo.....

The newest innovation slowly finding its way to the recreational vehicle market is the L.E.D. (light omitting diode) lamp.

It's actually emits light, not omits light.... well..... that'd be dark, right?

Still a very nice article.
