Yeah.....I couldn't get them to put the screws in the bag with the switch, so I painted four that I had with grey primer. For us, this has been one of the handiest mods I've done, especially when working in the kitchen.

Sounds silly, but when driving and I stop to use the 1/2 bath, as I walk by the kitchen sink I turn on the water pump. When I'm done, by the time I walk out of the bathroom and head toward the driver's seat, the macerator toilet is done running and the water has filled, so I shut the switch off as I walk by.

I remember you saying that the screws weren't included, so I asked. They said they only sell them in quantity of 1000. I thought maybe if we could get a group buy, 250 members could get 4 screws each.

Don;
I'd love to camp next to you for a week or so. I'd learn a lot.

On the other hand you may not enjoy the experience so much.

Anyhow thanks for this post and all the others mods you've posted. My potential "to do" list for the spring keeps on getting longer even for my "older" MH.

Thanks

Chris

Great job, Don! I might do this for the bedroom shade switches which you have to operate while in bed.

An easier way would be to add a 2 channel MCD controller to raise and lower all the shades where you want it. About $35 plus $10 shipping.Click image for larger version

Ron, so that controller over the bed is a wireless remote? if so, I would think you could program the main controller on the "spare" button to activate the BR shades also, no?

Light/Water Pump Switches at Sink in Dutch Star

I have no spare button on my 4369. Other models like yours do. I don't see an advantage to using that spot for the bedroom, instead I would separate the passenger window from the entry door.
Since those controls are wireless, the duo-single control installation is a snap. Programming can be a challenge but is really quite easy once you get the hang of it. In my bedroom, the pictured controller runs ALL three shades. I changed the controller under the cabinets to only control the two bedside window shades. Works for us.
For more good information regarding this, search MCD in the Newmar owners forum and you'll see a couple of threads that are helpful.

Thanks! I had a spare moment so I called MCD and a very helpful man named Bill helped me with the programming of the spare button and he suggested I do it to actuate the door shade also. I had separating its control on my list of to dos but didn't know it could be that easy . Also ordered another control to place on the wall as you did. Great idea, THANKS!

Thanks to Don and Ron! I added a shade remote in the bedroom and it works great. I also did the light switch install and couldn't be happier with the way it turned out.

What a GREAT!! modification Don, the DW has had a problem with the switch location from day one. She saw your solution and now I have a new Project to add to my ever growing list. I think that this one will find it's way to the top.

The photos are what makes this very doable!!

I have separated the door and window night shades. Added a 2 button remote for both the driver and for the passenger to use the shades as sun visors. The driver remote controls the driver side window and door shades, the passenger one controls the door and side window shades. I programmed the 14 button remote All Night button so it no longer controls the door shade. I have added a 14 button remote in the bedroom. MCD makes it easy to customize the shade system.

Jim, I know Don picked up 12V for the new light switch from existing stubs from his induction range install. It appears like you had the factory installed induction unit so where did you pick up your 12V from?
