Greetings
This past weekend, the clear plastic of the lighted assist handle broke in to two pieces.
Does anyone know where can I get a factory replacement? I don't need the metal mounting brackets. They are in excellent shape.

RV is a 2003 Dutch Star and I live in Vero Beach, Fl.
Thanks
Denver

I would suggest you try North Trail in Fort Myers. They could ship it to you. They carry more parts than most, or any, Newmar Dealer. I've been surprised when getting parts just how many they actually have, and I mean uncommon stuff too.

I also noticed, a while back, that North Trail had a good collection of various outside grab handles.
You could also try this site.

On the IRV2 site some posted that this is the right replacement piece.

I ordered one last month from RV Surplus Salvage and I think it was $20 plus shipping. It is a good replacement minus the stamped NEWMAR. I also purchased the replacement handle Newmar is selling. It is stainless steel and not lighted. It cost about 3X what the RVSS handle cost. I'll keep the stainless version as a spare.

I broke the one on my fiver a week ago. Newmar no longer sells the lighted version, just the chrome replacement with new mounting brackets.
60 something $ plus freight.

Just as happy to have the chrome one since the clear ones are prone to breakage (although I do prefer the look of them). Just glad ours broke when no one was depending on it to prevent a fall. I just grabbed it as I went out the door and it cracked in half in my hand.

I had the handle break in half on me too. Ordered the replacement from RV Surplus, cost was $20. Had to modify the ends a bit for the right fit, a hack saw and vice plus 15 minutes was all it took. The service was courtous and prompt.

Bob
Did the one from RV Surplus fit right into your old brackets or did you have to change those too?

The handle I ordered from RV Surplus needed some minor modifications on the end to fit the existing brackets. As Jeff and Cheryl pointed out, it was a quick mod with a hack saw.

Used, of course. It doesn't rust as fast that way.

My handle has stress cracks through out the length of the acyrlic. I ordered one from RV surplus. It doesn't fit at all. The curves don't line up with the chrome top and bottom mounts. I ordered a whole new one from Newmar-- Apparently they gave up on the illuminated acyrlic grab handle. The new one is chrome plated metal. I will post pictures when the upgrade is complete.
