I have a 2001 Newmar Mountain Aire that I bought recently and after driving from Florida to Nashville the lights overhead over the Driver and Passenger seats won't work.

I have no manuals for the motorhome And I can't find a switch anywhere that might have gotten turned off that would control these lights.

Is there a switch somewhere or do I have go searching for fuses or wiring problems? The light over the seat behind the passenger seat works fine and I checked the bulbs.

Any suggestions?

For the drivers side twist the headlight switch until it clicks. The passenger side light should have a switch beside the seat. The lights themselves have a switch that must be on also.

And here I thought I was the only one that couldn't figure this out. When I picked up our 2003 Monaco in Tempe AZ and drove it home I could not get the map light over the driver's seat to work. It had a rocker switch but when flipped back and forth the light did not come on. No problem, the light must be out. Not. Light was fine. Ok, must be a fuse issue. Not. Had no idea where to look next. Put it on my list to figure out...someday. Accidentally turned the dash light dimmer switch one day and wallaaah, map light!! Now, if the switch had been in the 'off' position that day...I would still be trouble shooting the problem or asking the same question on this forum! There is always someone on this forum who has 'been there, done that' before. Been there, done that.

Thanks all. I had tried the dimmer switch but turned it all the way up but it didn't click at the top. Pushed harder and it finally clicked and the lights work. Probably needs to be cycled a few times to get 9 years of not being used very often to get it working smoothly.

Thanks again.

Dooh. So that is what I was doing wrong. Another operator error thing. I could get the passenger side to work but not the driver side. I though the ignition was connected to the drivers side light some how but never put the issue together with the light switch.

Most map lights have a push button switch on them also just to confuse it a little more.
