Little Giant vs Telesteps type ladder

I have struggled with this decision for awhile and need your help
With the DS I need a ladder that extends more then 12 feet to have a safe range to climb on the roof.

I’m looking at 18foot Telesteps ladder that extends 15.5 feet
The pros, it’s 33x5x20 inches closed
The cons it’s $300 and only works as an extension ladder

The Little Giant 17’ Velocity extends to 15’
The pros, it’s an extension and step ladder (great for cleaning windows)
$180 and lifetime warranty
The cons, 55x9x24 inches closed

They are both basically 30 pounds and both have a 300 pound rating
Thank you in advance for your help. Stuart

Hands down the Telesteps! The Little Giant is an absolute pain to handle, multiple steps to extend to full length and a real pain to handle when fully extended! Storage foot print is also much larger! Ask me how I know...

Your choice but seems heavier than that to me... I think that would be one thing you carry for 6 months then leave it home

I actually have both of the ladders you listed. I carry the 15.5' Telestep ladder on the coach and it has worked flawlessly. The other ladder is a better fit for home use. I use 12" sections of cut up pool noodle to attach to the Telestep ladder if I need to lean on the coach to protect the paint. Both are fine ladders I probably give the telescoping ladder a slight edge for RV use for it's compact design.

I think telesteps is a better choice for use with an RV. Between that and the small, lightweight step stool I carry, there’s no where I can’t reach, and the step stool gets about 1000% more use. I don’t think I’ve ever had to use the telesteps on the road.

I used to carry around a Little-Giant-type ladder I bought at Home Deopot which I found to be just a total PITA to use and store, plus it was much heavier than the 30# you are reporting.

I carry XTend & Climb 785P which is great for getting on top and I carry a folding ladder for use as a step ladder. They both close up into a small package and easy to deploy. Likewise, I use short pieces of pool noodles to keep it of the rig.

I have a 10' telescoping that I have used for years (not rv) and hope it will work on MH. I asked if I could step on top of the slide to get on the roof and two service techs said that's how they do it.

I have an telescoping ladder AND the collapsible "A" frame (7 ft) ladder.
Both fold up nicely and are light in weight. There is nothing I can't reach comfortably with either.
Go with the telescoping ladder. You won't regret it.

Good luck with the decision.

I bought the 18' Telesteps. A decision factor was that it fits perfect in a shallow compartment on the coach. For most lower reach needs I carry a three step step stool. Has a hand loop and large steps for better stability than a ladder.

I tried the Telesteps but just did not feel secure. I ended up with the Little Giant knock off from Gorilla. It is lighter and hold more weight than the LG. I love it and it just fits in one of my trays.
