Living Area Emergency Window

I have a 2005 Kountry Star gas coach that has an emergency window in the living area, behind the original couch. I am sure other models likely used the same window. I want to open it and dust the seal and possibly replace the seal if it rips so that if I ever have to open it in an emergency I don't have to fight with it. I dust the bedroom emergency window every year with baby powder so it will quickly and easily open.

I have never had the living area emergency window open and right now I assume it is fully hinged at the top and won't fall out when I open it. Has anyone opened this window that can confirm that it is fully hinged and won't drop once opened?

Vett, never saw a emergency window located there only in bedrooms but smaller, does it have sliding windows or awning type.
At any rate if you can open window use 303 on rubber seals like you would with your slide seals that's what Newmar recommends now.

Any links to that Newmar recommendation? I have been using baby powder as I didn't think they wanted anything sprayed on the seals.

The window in question does slide when you open it and looks the same as the window right next to it other than the two red handles for releasing it. Here is a photo from when the couch was still in the coach showing one of the red handles.

Owners need to open emergency windows once a year to make sure that if they are needed they will open. On our Essex both emergency wouldn't open without using a screw driver on the outside of window. Because they hadn't been opened in years they stuck from the heat on the rubber seals. Good idea is to keep a 30 inch wood or metal stick by window so if there is need to use emergency window you can use to hold window open to exit coach. We use velcrow to keep stick in place while driving. 303 on seals is a good idea to keep window from sticking.

I would get on a ladder outside the coach with the window unlatched and see just how far it does open and if it becomes dislodged when open. Only way to know for sure.
