Lightbulb Living room slide intermittent

I have an intermittent problem with my L/R slide on 2004 Mountainaire. Slide sometimes will not retract. When I go out and "wiggle" the motor and retry, it starts to work. This is just a " wiggle " by hand, not tapping with a hammer. The other day I did find some grease dripping from the actuator mechanism.
Question. Is this likely a motor problem or is it in the torque mechanism?
Thanks in advance,
Lin

Have you checked the motor mount bolt tightness? I don't think the motor should wiggle. There is a known issue with the bolts loosening up over time, perhaps yours is jamming...see this post for info: http://www.irv2.com/forums/f103/own-...is-295001.html

Lin, if the bolts are not loose and you have a grease leak the gear housing maybe cracked and needs looking at.
If all that checks out take a look at the wire connections to the motor which could be loose in connection.
If all checks out the age of your coach may require a very small adjustment to the pot on the slide control so more current can get to motor and help the slide rollers get up the ramp to floor above.
Our era coach's had good motors no loose bolts and good gear housings but a cracked gear box can happen.
All slide information is in QT's 1 & 2.
All the links below in my signature have more links for your Newmar.
You can check this link for TSB's related to your year coach.
Let us know how your making out.
