I have just bought a 2012 Dutch Star 4020 and paid extra to have it prewired for solar panels. I found the plate on the roof and the wires under it but after searching every compartment for a whole day cannot find the battery end. Is there a hidden compartment or did they forget to thread the wires through.

Hahahaha. We also prewired our 2007 for solar. When the installer went to install the solar in 2008, he couldn't find the ends of the wires either. We "think" they maybe went over to the electrical bay someplace instead of the batteries, but really don't know. We chalked it up to experience as we didn't "specify" where to where. We just asked for solar prewire since we didn't really know what we were doing at the time. The installer ran new 6 gauge wire, which was what we requested they prewire with. Our solar works good, so no problem, but we had issues with all the pre-wire we requested because we did not specifiy from where to where. IF we were to ever do this again....(probably not as we love this coach and haven't found another floor plan we like better) we know several pitfalls like that, but we just have some solar prewire and satellite dish prewire that is buried up there somewhere that will never be used as we didn't know to be specific.

Newmar usually runs the wires to the circuit breaker area in the bedroom or bathroom depending on model. From there they should run to the battery area.

Give Newmar a call and they can tell you where to find the wires.

Ours is prewired but I've never looked for them so now I have an idea where to look it the need arises.

Thanks for the replies. A Newmar rep told me the wires were in the electric cord dept. They were there and sinse then have put in 2 - 125's. I will be dry camping this weekend at the 1/4 mile race track and not have to run my generator to run the inverter. With a little luck I may even win a couple of rounds.
