Lock on rear diesel engine compartment access door
Do any of the Newmar's, particularly the Dutch Stars, have a lock on the rear engine access door. Maybe there's nothing back there that needs locking up but all my other diesel coaches have had a lock on that door and it just seems Newmars should also. Just thinking about all the cars/PUs that have hood locks and nothing near as expensive under there.
Anyone ever had any kind of vandalism happen at the rear of their coach?

Anything back there is going to take some big tools and a lot of time to remove.
I just don't see a need.

The latches on mine each have locks. I've never used them, and the keys to them are very common. In fact I had to replace one, and the key that came with it opened the old one too.

Mine has a lock buit into the latch [common RV key] but I stopped using them along time ago. Probably wont help much, but in case of an emergency and quick access is required [smoke/fire], I dont want to be looking for my key......

Ours has a locking latch also... Guess the lock went the way of rear ladders.

Would a replacement latch with a locking key have to come from Newmar or are these latches fairly common and easy to find? Maybe have to go to a lock smith shop?

The push button is pretty common. Just replace with a locking one. Personally, I wouldn't lock it. If you ever need emergency access, like to use a fire extinguisher you'll be hunting for a key. My Diplomat didn't have a lock either.

I was able to determine the manufacturer of the latch, but couldn't find an exact replacement on their website. I ended up buying from Newmar. About 50 bucks as I recall.

On three previous coaches I've never had a lock on the engine compartment & never had any vandal or theft issues. In the event of a fire you'll wish it wasn't locked!
I guess my question would be - Why do you feel you need a lock?
