Again out door lock failed and we have to break in to our coach thru a window. Twice in one week. This is the second time in a week.

Not good. Does it lock by itself? Will a key work or are they locked inside also? We never leave the keys to our DSMH inside but locked in the jeep.

It's the latch mechanism, we had the keys.

This is how you get in a $425,000 coach.

That happened once to us - in Alaska. We sprayed WD40 in the latch mechanism and never had a problem again.

That would not work here. This is a mechanical fit problem.

This would be a good reason to have a hidden exterior switch for power drivers window. May be in a lower compartment. 'Dutchstar Don any ideas or thoughts?"

FWIW, there is always an unlatched window on our coach. I know it's a risk, but it's manageable and one that is acceptable to us. I had to break into ours once. Never again.

Same with me-- never had to use the window entry, but if I do, I won't have to break anything to get in

Thankfully, we always have a now 13 year old solution for this problem with us. Her name is Allison and she crawls in our windows quite easily. She rescued our butt twice--once when the dog locked the door by stepping on the lock button, and another time when our battery died in the remote door lock controller that I carry with me and her dad (duh!) forgot the combination to the "rescue key" that I have hidden.
I know it wouldn't have helped the OP in this case, but for others, if you haven't already discovered the idea, I mounted one of these in a secret location... Works great as long as you remember the combination! https://www.amazon.com/Master-Lock-5...state+lock+box

I had a cheap key I made break off inside the cylinder if one of our basement locks. I turned lemons into lemonade by not fixing it!
The lock can now be turned with a finger nail or the tip of another key. No one would know this so it appears locked like all the other doors.
We hid a door key inside the area so we won't ever be locked out in case we accidentally forget to take keys with us while we are out.

You could probably hide it in the propane bin, it can't be locked.

The is a long shot, but might be the assignable cause: Does the "lock out" occur if the door side of the motorhome is in direct sunlight and the deadbolt is engaged?. If so, the problem seems like one that surfaced some years ago on Safari Treks when the deadbolt lock was engaged. The lock clearance was very tight, and just a little expansion from hot sunlight would cause the lock to jam. A little judicious filing where the deadbolt fit into the door jamb solved the problem.
Working from memory, I think unlocking the deadbolt actually makes the bolt extend slightly before retracting. The key could not be turned to open the lock because the bolt was prevented from extending before retracting. Open your door, turn the deadbolt with the key, and see how the bolt moves.
Note, this can also result in being locked inside. When we bought the new-to-us 1999 Trek, there were gouges on the deadbolt knob on the inside of the entry door where the PO apparently used pliers or a wrench to get out!
