I was hoping to get some input, guidance and expert advice on a little problem I'm working through. Let me give you the background. I have a 2018 DS 4018 with a san icon system. I was replacing the sanicon discharge hose due to pin hole leaks. I removed the three mounting screws holding the pump in place, two of which were sheared off and just the screw heads were sitting in the bracket holes. Long story short, when I was struggling with the discharge pipe the clear 3" 45 broke. I have the new fitting on hand. My question is this, the fitting is a very loose fitting at the connection to the 3" hose that goes to the inlet side of the sanicon pump. The original fitting had what I would describe as a wide rubber band between the fitting and the hose. The clamp went over that area. That connection was leak free prior to this. I have been unable to achieve a leak proof seal. I am planning to remove the fitting, clean, dry and coat it with a silicone sealant and reconnect to the inlet pipe. Anyone have a better idea. I would be hesitant to use a silicone sealant with a rubber hose. I would search out a better product to take up that space or area. We had a similar problem with our 11 Ventana and had a difficult time getting it to seal back up between me and two shops. It was like the 3” nipple that sanicon used was slightly bigger than all the aftermarket products out there. Good luck with your project.

If you've ever seen or bought the "Rescue Tape" at an RV show, use that in place of the rubber band. Wrap it around 2-3 times and the secure the hose.

I think I know what you are talking about. I saw a product at Ace hardware that sounds like what you have described. I am assuming that you would not use the silicone sealant in addition to the rescue tape?

I just replaced mine last week. Very weak part. I transferred the rubber band from the old elbow and so far no leaks. Don's suggestion of rescue tape should work as well.

Order the Rescue Tape on Amazon. I've used it for exactly what you're trying to do. It's handy to have on hand as it can seal up a leaking radiator hose. Many uses.

Agree on not using Silicone and on the use of rescue tape as an alternative.
I have purchased the genuine Rescue Tape at Ace Hardware in the past.

just went through this same thing before my trip to nappanee....

i re-used the rubber band, and was not leak free at first...

then i realized that the pipe clamp had cut into the 3" flexible hose, and that is where it was leaking....the cut was far enough behind the seal point....i cut back about an inch of the hose, and re-connected, and no leak...

make sure there is not a cut somewhere in that hose...
