Looking to finish a deal on a 2015 Dutch star

We are getting pretty excited in that we found a 2015 Dutch star 4369 at a price we can afford. Just put down money to hold the coach until next week. Are there any particular issues related to the 2015 Dutch stars such as upholstery that I should be looking for?

Of course it will go through a fairly substantial inspection by myself and/or registered mechanic. Fluid samples will be part of the project.

Thanks in advance!

Sky Boss,
We really enjoy ours with the exception of the automatic stairs. They basically slam to the ground as per design. Not a fan at all. Other than that, we love the Dutchstar.

Great news. The 4369 is a super floorplan. We would not have a different one. BTW, was that the year with front axle overload, or was it only on specific models?

2016 was the year I wanted to avoid because of front axle issues.

We are very happy with the floor plan and the fact it doesn’t have the fireplace and L lounge.

We go to Midway RV on Tuesday to personally inspect it.

Congrats on the DS4369. I spent a year looking for a used one and found a 2015 a year ago at Transwest in CO. Made the deal over the phone, traded in my Baystar (the sales rep had seen it at the Newmar Rally in Pueblo), drove from PA to CO to get it, love it, and I'm sure you will be happy. And as someone said, the axle problem was in 2016 when they added tile to the slide out. Again, enjoy! Newmar gave me new covers for drivers and passenger seat as the piping went bad, a known problem for that year. I paid to have them redone, but got a good deal from a guy in FL when I was there over the winter.

Back in January we closed the deal on our '15 DS 4369. Love it. You can check with NCS and FL to find out if that particular coach had any issues and/or if all the recalls have been done.

Advertised prices are running between $250,000 and $275,000. I was able to get mine down to $248,000.

I found out today that the Villa couch was replaced recently and both of the captain's chairs haven been recovered. I was thinking that upholstery, specifically poor upholstery buy that Newmar made, might have been a problem for the Dutchstars during the time it was built.

The only issue that has me a little bit nervous is the cargo carrying capacity. Our current Dutch star has almost 10,000 pounds of cargo carrying capacity but the new one only has about 5700 pounds of capacity. I'm not concerned about but whole cargo capacity but just how much weight will be on the front axle.

What I am hoping is that the larger capacity front axle, which is 17,000 pounds compared to my current 14,600 pound axle does the trick. Also the additional DEF equipment at the back of the coach also helps offset Front axle loading.

We have weighed our 2015 DS 4369 fully loaded several times...
Front axle usually falls around 15500 (leaving 1500 available)
Drive axle usually around 17500 (leaving 2500 available)
Tag axle usually around 8500 (leaving 1500 available)

Interesting note for 2015 DSDP... coach GVW is less than sum of 3 axle capacity.
Axle sum is 47000
GVW rating is 44600

When fully loaded we still have over 3000 pounds of GVW available.

Hope this softens your fears.

Don --

You and Sandee are going to love the coach!

I'm on my fourth Newmar coach and my ordered '15 DS 4369 is the best of the best. I have looked several times at new ones and driven everything from MA to KA, but I keep coming back to loving my coach and am hard pressed to figure out a reason why I would want to get rid of it.

I am sure there can be lemons even on great designed coaches but mine has been truly flawless. I just can't see parting with it. The design, the layout, the '15 features, the drivability, the smooth, quiet and power on the road -- I continue to be amazed with the whole package. Never once felt it lacked power on the highway, even going up hills. I constantly pass all trucks effortlessly. Plus I have regularly had a real 7.2 - 7.5 mpg even towing my '15 Grand Cherokee Summit -- a much heavier car than the CRV's I have had.

I bought my coach over a '15 Mountain Aire when Newmar was having problems getting enough chassis from Freightliner early in the '15 production process due to slowdown in production from its radiator supplier and I have never once seen a reason to second guess my decision to go with the Dutch again. I worked with Michelle Howard and ended up with 45 specials which made the coach look inside just like the MA I passed on. I just love the look.

I am sure you are going to be very happy if your coach checks out -- and you will definitely be happy and satisfied with Midway -- my dealer too.

Sincerest congrats to you and Sandee.

Cheers --

Deek

Congratulations Sky Boss and the move up, you can't go wrong when the last two posts from the experts put their 2 cents in coach sound great.
Just think of all the wiring you can do with this one as your older one to keep you occupied.
What ever enjoy it and safe travels ahead, for you.
