Loose Fascia Board

We have a 2018 Ventana 3407. On the front of the full wall slide behind the driver’s seat, there is a vertical fascia board that came loose and fell off during our spring/summer trip this year. This part of the slide has a buffet and the length of the fascia board length spans between the top surface of the buffet and meets up with the horizontal fascia board that runs along the top of the slide.
The problem is that the board was nailed to a hallow steel 1x1 framing piece. As I said, the fascia came completely loose and fell off. During most of the trip, we laid on top the buffet.

It seems the fascia board is waferred. As I said, the piece that is fastened to the vertical base piece is nailed to the 1x1 steel framing. The top wafer of the fascia which includes decorative LED lights, is fastened to that.

I had the coach at the dealer for repair. They repaired the fascia board by gluing and clamping it to the metal frame until the glue dried. When I picked up the coach, I didn’t noticed this until I got home, but the fascia board is very loose. I call the dealer and discussed it with them and said that it will probably probably work itself loose and fall off again. I have an appointment 1/4/19 for routine maintenance and they will address it then.

My question, anyone else have this problem? I see there are other models with buffets also and wonder if they are fastened the same way and if anyone is have problems.

I have had trim come loose. I use a small amount of liquid yellow wood glue and keep in place with a pneumatic finish nail. To cover the nail hole I use wax tinted pencils available at Home Depot. No sanding.

Personally, I find things like this are much easier to just fix yourself. Find an adhesive or some type of attachment point and do the repair. I had a piece of trim above the bathroom sink that fell down, I glued and pinned it in place until it dried, problem solved.

I probably would have, but I had the coach in for a whole bunch of other repair. Now to Freightliner for four additional repairs.

I would proceed with caution, glues like Gorilla glue are pretty permanent. Future slide repairs and maintenance may require removal. Do they have lights in them? I can tell you that on my Dutch Star screws are used from behind to hold the vertical trim in place.

I thought about that this afternoon. I remember thinking about it why we're on our trip but never really investigated it. If you're Dutch Star has it, I would assume the Ventana would the same design. It only makes sense. If it hasn't fallen off before I get back to the dealer, I will ask them about that.

In fact earlier DS had an issue of the vertical trim falling and the fix was adding screws. Your dealer will know.

You could try 3M VHB tape, it's double sided and comes in a variety of sizes, temperature ranges. A lot of the auto people use this to hold parts on cars and trucks so I would think it would work for you. My MH is different then yours but I had to remove my fascia board for some maintenance. They screwed my board from the back going through the slide flange and into the fascia board. This seems to be pretty good I've never had one loose or fall of. Good luck with your project.

Mine are screwed on from the back. Hard to see because the screws are small and recessed in to the wood.

The crown molding fell from the kitchen in our 2018 Ventana. There were only 2 proper length finishing nails in the 8' length, the rest of the nails barely came through the molding. I reattached it with several 1 1/2 inch finishing nails using my finish nail gun. It soon fell again. It would bow out, pull the nails out of the wall and fall off. It was simply cut too long. I removed about 3/16" of its length, reattached it and it's been fine ever since.

The vertical fascia with internal accent LED lighting is also pulling off the slide wall in a few places. I'll be tackling that at some point. Very surprising, I was expecting better from Newmar.
