Loose purple wire on power step

11' BS 3302: while crawling around under the unit,I came across a 2 purple wires hanging loose under the power step. One from the wiring harness where all of the wires from the Controler go into it with a butt connector attached. The other coming out of the Controler not connected to anything. They look like they should be joined but, the step works fine, just not liking a loose wire hanging around. Any one have a wiring diagram for the step.?

A call to Newmar Customer Service (800-731-8300) should get you the wiring diagram. Have your coaches S/N available. You could also go to their website and sign up for ComNet. Hope that helps.

Btw, from an earlier posting I recall a statement by somebody that that purple lead was intended to power an additional light of some sort, if needed, but I don't know anything more about what conditions it's powered, etc.

Yep, it allows you to connect the step light to the patio light switch.

Kwikee calls that the stop light wire, Near as I can tell it neither accepts nor puts out power, appears to be not connected on the other end, Just leave it taped off and do not be concerned with it.

I suspect Spk64 is right. I had the same two loose wires that looked like they were connected (butt splice on one end), when I connected them together my step light comes on with my patio light.

SPK64: that's what I needed..! Now I can either connect the wire or at least tape up the butt connector so it could be used in the future. Saved the pdf for future use. This is why you join the forum, thanks for all the reply's.

Glad it helped.
Since we purchased a well seasoned Rv (12 year old MADP). I have been collecting PDF manuals on anything in the RV. Keep them in a dropbox folder so I have access to them anywhere anytime.
