Loose slide bearing bolts

This morning I was getting the coach ready for our trip to Graceland, as usual I was checking for loose fasteners. Specially around the slides. Could not believe two of the nuts on the kitchen slide bearing, holding the drive shaft, came off using my fingers. So I checked the rest that I can reach. They were fine. I installed them back with blue locktite. Click image for larger version

That's about as bad as I found. Of 2 sets of holes for mounting the gear assembly, mine were in the wrong ones slightly binding up the 2 shafts.
2.5+ years later still finding problems.

Vibrations are our friends at least in finding loose parts in hardware and wiring.
It depends on when you find the problems before they cause a more serious problem.

In this case they wanted to save couple of pennies. Newmar used carriage bolts that were too short, and could have used nylock nuts, instead of the regular ones. I have found few other places that the bolt is so short, only couple of threads of the nut are engaged. You always should be able to see at least two bolts threads sticking out of the nut.

Your post, Buly, is MUCH appreciated...and should not be ignored or put
off by us other owners...AS I HAVE! I've read earlier posts regarding such
and have yet to get my butt in gear and insure I'm OK with respect that
potentially costly item. Again, thanks! Larry

This is an old issue and Newmar issued a Technical Bulletin concerning this. Another reminder that owners should check the TB's regularly.
