When I lost mine it was a 5 amp fuse in a box on the wall just forward of the batteries in that bay. Can;t remember the box name or fuse location. Spartan should be able to point the way.

Lost my engine brake last fall and it turned out to be the actuator on the exhaust valve had seized. Price of assembly was $990 and the actuator was $90. Found out that the actuator needs to be greased a couple of times a year. Information was in the todo list on the Freightliner site as well as recommended in the Exhaust Brake Manual. Not the easiest thing to do as I had to go thru bedroom access, however I have found a way of doing it from engine entrance with a toothbrush attached to a piece of doweling......a Mcgiver solution. Hope this helps.

Follow-up..............

Independence RV did take my small problems but at the end I asked about my Engine break (1st priority in the list) and.,........the Service Rep told me I had to go to Cummins since they did not have the proper equip. - computer etc. to find the problem !!! Was irritated !!

Have an apt at Cummins in Ft Myers this Friday.......

Yesterday I was at Cummins Power South in Ft Myers - Diagnostics done for $227.00 and the brake works fine on the Cummins part - the problem is somewhere at the chassis level and they don't do RV chassis - referred me to North Trail RV. They could not find the fuse at chassis level I sure would like to know where it is as it is not in the front driver's compartment ??
Anybody know ? 2006 DSDP - it is somewhere and ....well - will call North Trail next week as I am a little tired of doing garages

......will check the bay in front of the batteries - that is a compartment ? as recommended by Ronnie

maybe a quick call to Newmar customer service can help you locate the location of the fuse. In my 2012 I have many more fuses in a panel located within the electric bay. The panel is covered by plastic cover held on with Velcro. Has anyone tested the switch? Should be easy enough to remove the switch and check the switch operation... If bad an easy fix.

Mike

Renden, the fuse is located in the Bussman Switch box located in the small area in the battery compartment about 4"X4" black (should be on the wall). It is a 5amp fuse located in position 10.

Found the fuse box in the front compartment in front of the batteries
Position 10 5 amp fused located and was burned. I changed it - Now we need to do a test drive when DW feels to have the slides in etc. since we are parked - no problem !!

After changing the 5 amp mini-fuse, started the engine and put the brake engine toggle switch on and off a few times and shut engine.........re-checked the F10 5 amp fuse and it was burned........sooooo there is a short somewhere

Renden, try again and only toggle the switch once...I think the multiple on-off switch toggling is the problem. I think that was the cause of my failure

It seems to me a 5 amp fuse for operating something in braking system is of-full small unless its maybe operating a relay for a higher voltage operation of brake.
Here is a 2005 wiring diagram for Spartan chassis that may point to that relay or operation of brake system.
This link shows most fuse BLOCK locations in DP.

If your engine brake is going to go out, at least South Fla. is a good place to be.The mountains seem to be far & few between.
