Don. You might get lucky. My ‘16 Ventana I took off the wood trim and adjusted star and it worked great after. Got wood plugs from amazon and touched up with stain. Looked good. But the good part of the story....my ‘19 DS the door closes perfectly. No issues. Hopefully yours will too.

Stuart, our factory pickup was 16 April 2018, so assembly would have been in the Feb-Mar 18 timeframe.

I’ll continue to experiment with it.

And thanks for the bolt size; both you and Don are true mentors. I don’t know that I would have ever figured this one out.

Tried both closing the door easily and using force. On my door, it doesn't provide for a 2nd closure that I can tell.

There is also no visible difference between the soft or the hard close from inside or outside the coach. In fact, I noticed the fascia (doortrim/door) toward the bottom is flush with the coach, it sticks out out 1/4" or more at the at the door handle (and not flush with the coach) and towards the top of the door the fascia/door sticks out approx. 1/2"???

Also, I am now wondering if the deadbolt is functioning? If the deadbolt is used, will the door handle release BOTH the bottom latch AND the deadbolt (or should I have to release the deadbolt separately)? In my case, the door handle opens the coach regardless of whether the deadbolt is used or unused.

Loud Annoying Entry Door Squeak

There is a new Newmar recall that calls for the adjustment of the handle movement, that so far looks like only units built after the first of this year require it so far.

While derattling / desqueeking my 02 MA, I found the bottom grating on the screen door would rattle in it's channel. My solution was to take the screen door off (about 8 or so phillips head screws). I then used black silicone (to match the black anodized metal) and squeezed in to the channel around the grating. Once that was dryish, I rotated the slide and did the next 90 degrees (to keep the silicone from dripping out of the channel).

Made a heck of a difference. No more need to put a sneaker between the stair cover and the screen

The remaining noises are the screen door rubbing on the main door. Nice bright rub spot. Might need some tweeking or applying some rubber pads to shim out the spot.

Got to try that out... I guess it’s been a problem on Newmar doors for 20 yrs. We were trying to figure out what was causing it on our 98 DSDP coming back from Tuscaloosa last weekend.

Stuart,

How does an owner become aware of this recall (as well as future recalls)?

Thank you....

I recently spoke with Newmar support and brought up door issues but they never mentioned a recall??

The recall is only a week or so old, if you want to get it done I would call your dealer.

Good advice and I did just send my dealer an email.

I was curious since the recall states owners notified Sept 5th and I have spoken to support twice since then. No mention of a recall. Unfortunately, they weren't familiar with the door mechanism and how it works/latches.

You nailed it, that is normally the problem. In a pinch cloth medical tape will do the trick as well!

Well my incessant door squeek is finally gone . I read Don's post about cutting a plastic washer as a backer to the door striker bolt washer. I cut two 1 inch foam pads ( app 1/8th inch thick)with self adhesive on one side in half on the diagonal and stuck the four pieces on the back of the bolt washer that screws into the frame.

Then just snugged the bolt back into the door frame to squeeze the pads snug. Never dreamed the squeek came from this bolt washer rubbing up against the door frame but now I see it has vertical adjustment makes sense. I thought it was fixed in place.

3 hour drive and not a peep. Thanks for the idea Don.

Try a VERY thin coat of Vaseline on the rubber gasket rubbing on the screen door. This worked wonders on my 05 Tsunami. My wife was so gratified.
