we just picked up our new canyon star this week and there is a loud buzzer when we are leveling the jacks. Is this supposed to be this way?

kdickerson - welcome to the ranks of Newmar owners and especially Canyon Star owners. We have had ours two years and couldn't be happier with the coach. Enjoy.

As to your jack alarm......If it is the Atwood Leveleg system, you should not have an alarm for anything other than a specific fault with the system. When extending or retracting the jacks normally, there should be no buzzer. Guess we need more info on your system to make a judgement.

Did you set the parking brake?

On my coach, (power gear jacks) if I don't put it in park and set the parking brake both.. The jacks simply will not work.

I have a pedal operated brake.. On the pedal assembly is a pin-switch (You know, where there is a plunger that is depressed to operate the switch)

The switch has TWO wires hooked to it.. or should... One is the jacks. the other is the dash indicator and another "You left the brake set dummy" alarm.

When you use the jacks, brake has to be set or will not operate, ignition key in ACC position or alarm will sound.
Alarm will also sound when you try to start engine if jacks not pulled up.

I beleive this is the jacks down warning buzzer. It comes on when you turn on the key, so you don't try to drive off with the jacks down. Did it quit when you turned off the key?

kdickerson - you still have not stated what system you have. The answers could be quite different if you have the Atwood electric jacks or hydraulic jacks.

I think most newer Canyon Stars come with the Atwood system which is what I have and if that is what you have, the instructions 007 posted and some of the responses are not valid. With the Atwood system, the engine should be running or at least the key in the on position while leveling.
