We will be leaving Houston, and will need to fill our LPG tank enroute to Alabama.

What do we need to turn off/close?
The furnace pilot light?
How about the frigif we are running it on LPG?

We plan on doing this at a Flying J.

You should turn off all LP appliances, fridge, furnace, and water heater.

The main valve on your LP tank will also be turned off while it's being filled.

And don't forget to turn on the refrigerator after filling up.
There are no "pilot lights" on your coach. It is all controlled by auto igniters.

Also, when you turn the LPG back on, you might get an error on the fridge saying no propane because the line may have emptied. It will stop trying after so long.

What we do is light the burners on the stove to fill most of the line and then the fridge will light too. It has been like this on both of our coaches.

If you turn off all gas appliances before main gas valve is closed you will be set to go after fillup.

Java and 007 are both right, I've had it go both ways... The stove "bleed" is an instant way to bleed the lines (if necessary) than multiple refer resets while that dinky refer flame tries to bleed the lines.

As a Keep It Simple guy, the easy was before a LP fill is
1) shut off master coach disconnect switch (it'll cut the refer and furnace and everything else and saves running all around to do each item individually and it will be a blatant reminder after fill to turn it back on) and
2) close the LP valve.
And please, don't wrench that valve tight with all your might, just a light firm closing which I always close before the macho LP fill guy/gal comes over to man/woman-handle it closed.

Reverse the above after fill and then just make sure the refer is actually running. Otherwise ditto Java.

The master disconnect switch, is this the electrical switch in the engine compartment?

No, the master coach disconnect switch is usually labled "Store". Mine is located on the utility monitor panel just under the coach battery readout.

All we do is turn off the refrigerator, water heater, and furnace if it is running, then shut off the main valve at the LP tank. After the tank is filled, we open the main valve and turn on the refrigerator, etc. We haven't had a problem with any of the appliances not immediately lighting back up, so far.

I think the key is to wait until you are ready to get the tank filled before you turn off the refrigerator, and immediately after fill up turn everything back on. The less time you leave the gas off, the less likely you will be to have problems. IMHO

BTW, they will not fill the propane tank with anyone in the coach.
