Lube yo steps

Yesterday picking up my MH from way too long of sitting still the steps would not extend. They just worked a few weeks ago! I called Newmar and some puppy answered then I got through to my tech and went through all the steps. Fuses then guidance on what to test with a voltmeter. Not easy access but I did verify V coming into the controller. I gave up, I need to get going. Drove 20ft to hookup the toad and the steps came out.

Most likely it was just seized. I need to be more diligent with the silicone spray and keep these parts lubed including my typical spritz on the jacks. If you like me haven’t lubed your stair hinges consider doing so now.

I contacted Newmar parts to consider stocking a spare controller and motor as we know how great steps are. It's around 280 for the motor 100 for the controller as I recall. May be cheaper elsewhere.

I had the same thing happen....I had been lubing since purchase. They came back out and were working for a bit,,,but seized again. Replaced the motor and all is good again.

All - Present coach is 12 years old from date of manufacturer. Lubricated steps since new twice a year. The only time they quit was when the smart bed door pulled out the wiring, after fixing that, they worked again. If you lubricate them as recommended, they will be mostly trouble free. And we traveled mostly in the west and NW, and wet conditions are prevalent there, so steps are good, it's maintenance that is bad. Fellow above is correct, wipe down the hydraulic jacks about once a month or so with WD-40 and don't leave excess on them, just mostly it's to clean the shinny surface off good.

Found it on Amazon. Thanks. This must be a OEM reject per their legal disclaimer but 200 less than Newmar and same day delivery I'll take it. Leaving for a trip tomorrow.

Have fun! You reuse some of the old parts,,,don't lose them when you take the motor down

My steps say "never need lube", so I have never lubed. Are they lying?
