Lubrication Points for the Freightliner XCR Chassis

For my previous coach a diagram was provided in the Freightliner literature of all the lubrication points for the complete chassis. I cannot find such a diagram in the literature for my present coach (described below). Referring to that diagram was a great help for "do-it-yourselfers" such as myself. I trust that someone can point me to such a diagram in the Freightliner material for my coach. Many Thanks! Larry

Let us know Larry...I'd be interested too.

I did download the Freightliner manual from thier website...I'll scan thru it later. I think there are references in there.

Charlie...you're right. Freightliner-Gaffney informed me this AM to search
FCCCRV.com/Parts & Service/Downloads/Knowing Your Chassis. On page
55 (62-page document) there is the diagram showing all the lube points.
I inquired whether a compressor lube gun was o.k. and was told YES, just stay within 60-80 lbs pressure. So, I'm ready to begin...of course, I'll have my JACK STANDS accompany me! Trust this is helpful to some. Larry

That diagram shows 3 lube points on the drive shaft. There are 5, as each U-J has 2 zerk fittings. It also says there are fittings on the steering wheel shaft but my U-J's are sealed. The drawing is a little out of date I guess.

Algoma...the FL tech informed me that the one I referred to is the latest
available, and that it is somewhat outdated. Sorry, but I was in a hurry
and wasn't able to take note of the lube point differences. Thanks lots for
the corrections that you pointed out.

I have a new version in a PDF file. You'll have to PM me with an email address. I may be slow to respond as we're on a 9 week road trip.

It's only necessary to grease one of the two fittings on the u-joints. The grease flows through to all four points regardless which fitting you use. They put two fittings on it so no matter what position the shaft is in you can get to one of the fittings to grease it.

Due to the variety of final configurations in the ways that various coach builders order bare chassis from Freightliner, not all lube points are detailed on the list on page 55 of the version 2 Freightliner manual. The key points missing from the list for my side raditor DSDP that I have noticed so far are those on the universal joints and splines of my radiator fan drive shaft. No doubt Dutch Star Don will have found other important grease points missing from the Freightliner generalized document to include in his list.
Could I please have a copy when you have time to share the list Don?
