Thanks to all of you for the kind words. We are having so much fun on our drive back to Houston we are having a hard time wiping the grins off our faces. Compared to our 2006 Holiday Rambler gasser, this is the dream mobile.

We've had three wonderful days of travel but just in case you were still thinking about buying those lottery tickets, you might have missed your chance. Pulled into a nice State Park just west of Panama City Beach this evening and noticed that the passenger side front wheel was covered in oil:-( Took off the "hubcap" and pulled out the rubber stopper and sure enough the bearing oil reservoir was empty. Called Freightliner, it's probably a bad seal but it is covered under warranty...that's the good news. Unfortunately, the nearest servicing dealer is 70 miles away in Pensacola. And of course it is Friday night. Is there some unspoken rule that mechanical issues with motorhomes only happen on weekends?

Guess we will try to contact the service center in the AM and see if they could get us in for a repair. But first we have to figure out how to get to an auto supply store to get some lubricant to fill the reservoir. Did I mention we don't have a toad. And for those of you who missed skmwalden mentioning that we also gained an extended warranty, we were going to get it transferred when we got home. Can't get that done over the weekend either!

If anyone has any suggestions, we would appreciate the feedback.

I guess the good thing is that if we weren't having such a awesome time this would be a real pain:-)

UPDATE: Like all good RV owners, we got up the next morning with a new set of eyes and figured out our next move. After calling the Freightliner authorized repair facility annd every heavy duty truck shop we could find,it was obvious that a weekend repair was out of the question. And having learned a great deal more about wheel bearings than we ever thought possible, we realized that the gear oil in the bearing was still at the minimum level so the odds of having damaged the bearings was greatly reduced. After consulting a number of people with some experience in this area, it became apparent that we could probably limp back to Houston and have the seals serviced by Freightliner there. So we picked up the appropriate gear oil, added a bit to the bearing with a reminder to check it every hour. While there is definitely a leak, it hasn't lost much at all and we are feeling pretty good that we will make it home OK. Wish us luck. Only 4 hours away.
