Magne Shade storage?
Just trying to figure the safest and best way to store our Magna shade that we have for the windshield and side windows. We have the long fabric bag they supply but I have read that you don't want fold lines and wrinkles in the shades. It seems as though it wouldn't protect against that. We would love to hear what others are doing or am I just overthinking it.

We roll ours on a swim noodle. It isn't quite long enough, but it's better than folding it flat, which would leave creases.

Also with the magneshade suggested pool noodle and I stow the extension rod in the hole of the noodle. It still takes up a lot of space just like the hammock bag, would love to find a place such as over the chassis rail to stow it but I'm using that space for ladder and other things. Never enough space!!!

We keep the extension rod in the cardboard tube it came in and roll the magna shade around the cardboard tube. We lay it out on a ltable, large window first, and place each of the smaller ones on top of it.
Directions say magnets can not be stored repelling each other. I always put the outside up so when rolled up no magnets will be opposing. I'll buy a pool noodle some day...
From Magna Shade Website
• When storing your shade, it should always be rolled so that the magnets DO NOT repel each other. Magnets can lose magnetic force over time if two magnets oppose each other with the same magnetic pole. The bound pockets should always be rolled on the outside. NEVER FOLD YOUR SHADES!
• Rolling your Magne Shade around a swimming noodle can keep pockets from stacking and shade fabric from creasing while stored. *especially recommended with printed shades
• Do NOT use “slick treatments” on your windshield where magnet pockets rest. The Magne Shade system requires friction between the glass and the shade fabric. Slick treatments may reduce the necessary friction.
• Iron ore dust can accumulate on the pockets in the West; if too much accumulates it will act as a friction reducer. Keeping pockets clean can make installation easier.
• Occasionally clean the front and back of your shades with a soft brush and mild detergent.
• Digitally printed shades require extra care. Though these are printed in very high quality, they can be scratched, never slide the pockets when unrolling the shade, always pull the pockets straight away to unroll them.

We just roll ours by laying them out flat on the table and then slide them into the bag. No noodle required, although that sounds like a fine idea. We store the bag unfolded and flat on the dinette bench inside because when we park we put the shades on. No need to find room in a bin.

When I had my MCD exterior window shades, I laid them all together, rolled them, and then slid them into a 3" round drain pipe I had mounted in a bay.

I’d also recommend thinking about how you store them for the winter or other long periods of downtime if you have any. I found out the hard way that mice like to feast on the material around the edges of the shades.

I put two pool noodles together, cut the excess and rolled the shades for the front, drivers, door and passenger windows on them. The noodles came from the Dollar Store.

Stupid question, but should a storage bag come with the shade? I ordered mine and received it with no bag.

lostinfla … I remember stopping by the booth at the Tampa Show this year and they were calling the storage bag the "show special". Assume if you ordered at the show you got it … if not through the show then maybe not ??

I think they charge $35 for it and include it free for veterans. I’d get one, the cost of a tear would be far worse than a bag.
