Manual Slide lock usage?

I'm sure this has come up over the years but I could not find it in a search.
My question : Newmar owners that have Manual slide locks, do you engage them all of the time. I have a CS and the locks close to walls are in a tight space. My dealer gave me conflicting instructions. I know the written answer is you should always use them, I'm looking for the actual answer form all of you. Thanks

We have 3 slides and use them. I can not get to one of the bedroom slide locks, but one seems fine with the smaller slide. Also, make sure you post a note on or near the slide controls so you don't try to open them without releasing the locks first.

'00 DSDP 3865, always.
'02 DSDP 4090, only the one right behind the drivers head to keep it from rattling.

I will use the front locks on the FWS and the kitchen slide. But not always.

We use the front lock for each slide. Rears are too hard to get to. Has worked for us, YMMV.

I have three slides and lock them whenever traveling. The bedroom slide is rather difficult to get to (have to climb over the closed bed) but I still lock them. The only thing hold you slides closed, if you don't use the locks, is the gear/motor mechanism. If that fails, for whatever reason, the slides are free to move, without the locks.

Thank you all for your replies. For those using them, do you use the tool from Newmar?

Use the tool for the two front slides.

I can operate the bedroom slide-locks by hand. The one bedroom lock worked hard. While at Newmar for another matter they adjusted and lubed the difficult slide lock and it is now much easier to do by hand.

Both on the full wall slide. Only 1 on the bed slide. Mostly don't need the tool.

Obvious disclaimer - I am not a structural engineer nor did I play one in the movies or TV.

However, it seems to me when looking at my locking mechanisms, they would lend some structural integrity to the coach when locked down against the interior walls.

My reasoning? Our coaches flex a lot when in transit so when they are locked into place couldn't one assume that they (the locks) would lend to the stability of the wall and thus the coach?
