I've been reading consumer reviews about the Maytag stackable washer/dryers and I found that these Korean-made units are not well liked due to lots of plastic parts that wear quickly and break easily. Bosch washer/dryers, on the other hand, are rated very highly and have a 2-year warranty. I asked the Newmar folks if they could install the Bosch units in my soon to be built Essex instead of the Maytags, but was told that Newmar engineering said no due to lack of in-house testing.
Have any of you had issues with your Maytag washers and dryers? My other option is to have no w/d installed and put the Bosch units in myself (no big deal, just a hassle).

No prob with my stack either after 18 months. Only complaint I have is that too large a load in the dryer (yes mine is a 220v) will make it take way longer (like 2++ hrs) to dry, so I'll split a larger load in the dryer and get-r-done quicker.

Can't say nothing to Maytag W/D, but our BOSCH W/D in the stix is still humming away in the stix.... and that after 10 years......not one repairman had to come

Before my present occupation, the wife and I had a Whirlpool dealership and so I am very familiar with the appliance world up to 7 years ago. If you are comparing a Bosch and Maytag washer unit there will only be one similarity; they both wash clothes. However the Bosch will last much longer and be much quieter than any Maytag and many other brands around. Personally, I would go with the Bosch.

Just out of curiosity, are there any RV suitable units that use propane for the dryer? That would seem a better choice for RVs. Without the heating unit, it should be feasible to run them on an inverter.

I know Whirlpool makes a 24" gas dryer. They used to come with a conversion kit (orfice) for LP but may have to be special ordered. The dryer could be stacked and would certainly do the job. They also make a one piece unit that has the gas dryer option. They would certainly do a nice job if you can give up the room.
Most folks are not wanting to have to keep the lp tank filled so I have only seen this set up a couple times.

Yes, my problem is that I can't run the dryer when the A/C's are running, I trip the breaker on the pedestal every time. Other than that no problems with the units.

Gas would fix this problem, but that's not happening.

We have the Maytag washer/dryer units in our 4.5 month old coach so it's likely too early to notice worn plastic parts, but the dryer runs fine, even if we're running all three ACs.

None of the stacked w/d that are RV specific are made by the name on the front. They are : Italian, English and Korean. I doubt that any Bosch units sold in N.A. will fit a standard RV cabinet.

CSX4350,

Are you running 2 or 3 A/C's when you trip the breaker? We run both of our A/C's and the washer and dryer (Whirlpools) as well as the water heater and frig and do not trip any breakers when on 50 amps. When on 30 amps we run only 1 A/C and just to be safe we put the water heater on propane when doing the clothes.

Bosch does make a compact size unit that is commonly used in the RV industry. I just winterized one Thursday in an Executive.
