Ok so I am going to replace my tires. 2000 MADP, Spartan chassis, with 275/70/22.5 tires. What is the best Michelin model to go with and does anyone have current price information on this particular tire using the FMCA discount program. Thanks in advance for your help. I'm located in Springfield, mo.

You can get a lot of opinions on certain subjects....and tire recommendations are at or near the top of the list. If you are leaning toward Michelin, I would suggest you go to the excellent Michelin website and review ALL of their tires engineered and recommended for RV applications. Don't forget about the various warranties they provide, especially for the tire carcass on some models. Very good info on their brand. Can't help with pricing info.

Make sure you check on the FMCA discount and see if it is still in place. Others have stated a large discount if you can use that discount at a Michelin dealer. Check the tire thread on this site from several months ago.
We just put on XZA-2 Energy after doing our research. The ride is great.

Hi deanjeep,
For your size tires, the FMCA program says XZA2 Energy are $496 for a base price (not including taxes, balance and other dealer services).

I have XZA1 on the drive and XZE2+ on the steer. For me, there is no difference in the tires. There is 81K on the tires and they are all wearing great.

Thanks for all the info. I've got them ordered and will have them installed next Thursday. Dealers cost is $570 which includes FET but does not include mounting, balancing and local taxes. Looks like FMCA price including FET is right at $530. If I can get that verified through Michelin, then I'll go that route.

We put the XZE-2 Energy's on the rear last year, paid right at $512 (mounted, I didn't bother to balance the rears, it's just not necessary) and there was no FMCA discount then, but tires have gone up since then.
Put 305/70's on the front as we needed the greater weight capacity and couldn't fit 295/80's in the wheelwells. They were right at $600 each, mounted and spin balanced.

Mr_D,
You mentioned that you put 305/70's on the front. Did it originally have 275/70's?

You can't go wrong with Michelins. I had Goodyears on my previous coach and suffered no less than 3 blowouts. They were not old, underflated or overloaded. I switched to the more expensive Michelins years ago and have never had another tire problem.

Paid ~$3700 for 6-XZA3+ 275/80 -22.5 LRH in October through the FMCA Advantage Program. That's all in, including mounting and ceramic bead balancing. That number doesn't include the $20/tire the dealer got me for the '00 XZA2 carcases. I was told the XZA3+ replaced the XZA2's. When comparing prices..make sure you compare the load range. There is difference in price between "G" and "H".

I recently bought the Michilin "Coach" tires and like them a lot over the Goodyears. Coach tires are 19 ply and are made for the heavy front axels, 14,000 # plus.

You can go to the Michelin web site to find out what tires they have in your size and load range, XZE, XZA1,XZA3, then call the FMCA and get the price that will be charged through the national alliance account.

I too had Goodyears and in 2 years had 2 blowouts and like you not overloaded or under inflated. They were sidewall bubbles that blew. Last year I went to Michlins and what a difference.

I agree Michelins are the very best, but Michelin owns BF Goodritch and many times you can get the same tire with a BF Goodritch brand for less.
Most RVers do not wear the tires out, they just replace them because of age.

Just put on the XZA2 Energy tires 275/70R 22.5

FMCA invoice was $3002.10 for 6 tires.
Mounting (Superior Tire Service Salem, OR) $351.70

After weighing the coach and looking at the tables I am running 110# in the front and 85# in the rears. Very pleased with the ride and tacking.
