So I have closed the gray valve again. We are out again all day tomorrow, and I'll have a shower again tomorrow night when we return. If the smell is gone when we come back, but returns after the shower, I'll know it doesn't have anything to do with the gray valve being open or closed. If that's the case, I will try switching the vent caps for one in the master bath and repeat the process.
The only thing I can think of is a faulty vent cap, and the negative pressure from running the shower in the other bathroom is somehow causing it to open, and it is sticking open.
Does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions?

Put a Siphon 360 vent cover on the roof vent should take care of problem. Should draw fumes out.

Well, I ordered a new AAV and while waiting for it to arrive went out to remove the existing one that CW had installed under warranty. As some may know the small vanity in a small bathroom makes getting to the valve a contortionists nightmare. So imagine my dismay to find the idiots used some sort of sealant ( aka glue ) instead of teflon tape. So now a fairly easy swap becomes a bigger job. I could take it back but I'll just fixit.

X2 for TwinknKate. se the Happy Campers product. It gets rid of the odors through natural bacteria breakdown - no more stinky.

Not yet. Newmar shipped me a new vacuum breaker valve, but I have not had a chance to install it yet. It's the same cheap plastic valve that was in there (and all taped up) but it's worth a shot. If it doesn't make a difference I'm going to order a brass replacement unit that others have found made a difference. The smell is still there every time I turn on one of the ceiling fans (which is twice a day when the shower is used).
I've noticed a sewage odor on the outside of the coach, much stronger than the smell inside and unquestionably sewage, not gray tank. I cannot track down the source of this odor - it's not coming from the wet bay, any of the basement compartments, sewer plug connection, or anywhere under the coach. I can only guess it's coming from one of the roof vents and is wafting down to ground level. I didn't notice this on our previous coach, and am guessing it's not normal. I wonder if it has anything to do with the smell inside...?

I haven't gotten to the point where I have used my tanks but I saw this black pipe while searching for my slide controller
Looks like I need to bookmark this thread and replace the cap on this pipe. Thanks guys.

The Grey tank can smell as bad or worse than black. I had a bad smell (worse when moving) coming from the Grey tank, I went up on the roof and could smell it coming out of the roof vent. Did some research and come up with a 360 Siphon vent that has 100% take all the odor out of the MH for over a year now. It can be bought at amazon or ebay less than $30.00. My pipes coming through the roof had a gap between the pipe and roof that let the sewer gasses migrate back down into the walls and spread throughout the MH. The 360 siphon vent seals the roof and also draws the odor out with any movement of air.
The vents design up on the roof is probably not sealed adequately to stop the fumes from coming back down into the rv. The 360 siphon vents design will.

EZ fix for bathroom sink odor
Eliminate your AAV (air admittance valves). For short run sink drains the low volume of draining grey water does not require AAV's for your drains to function properly. You can test it yourself as I have and see that water will not be sucked out of your P traps even draining a full bowl of water. I removed my under sink AAV's and sealed the pipe with Saran wrap and a strong rubber band. After a month of regular use, I've had ZERO odor. I plan to get proper PVC threaded caps to replace the Saran wrap.
Why did Newmar put the AAV's in the design? Probably RIVA standards.
If you have an AAV on your clothes washer or dish washer drain, I'd leave them in place due to the volume and velocity of the drain water and possible longer runs.
An AAV doesn't have a chance in hell of remaining properly sealed when up against the vacuum pulled by your vent fan(s) when your windows and door is closed (unless your slideout seals are leaking air).

Went through this: thought it was the gray tank bought deodorizer, still had smell. Turned out that it was the water heater from not draining while between trips. Run kitchen sink on hot and cold and smell water
