Modification information request

I have the 2012 DSDP 4346. The modification I would like advice on is the back wall of coach closet located by engine. Looking at the closet I have shelves to the left with stackable washer and dryer next to shelves. Off to my right I have the safe.

So again the back wall, I have seen many Coaches with shelves and shoe holders recessed into this same wall.

Before I get into possible trouble; is there any experience with cutting into this backwall as well as mesurements to go by for the modification.

Appreciate any help.

If I were you, I would call the factory before I would cut anything!

Some people are brave about cutting into things, but it is wise to call the mfg first.

Hi Sidewinder4,
I have the shoe holders and shelves mentioned in the OP. Contacting Newmar is the best decision. Every plant tour I have taken (around 100), the back wall has wires running left/right/up/down. Sometimes they are fastened to the wall, sometimes not.

Terry, I'm not sure what it would take to add this as an upgrade. I believe that the aluminum structure is built to accommodate this shelf unit if it's ordered as an option on the original build. Here's a photo of mine with the recessed shelf on the production line, it takes up a lot of that rear cap, my guess is it would be an expensive addition if it can be done at all. I would guess that it would involve cutting and rewelding aluminum structure to get this done. As others have suggested, you should call Newmar and see what they can do.
