Mountain 2001 Damaged Ceiling Panel Removal

Hi Everyone,

I need assistance in best ways to tackle this issue regarding water damaged ceiling pane replacement. Service all RV Sevice Centers are booked until at least September, I will have to do this project myself.

I've ordered the panels from Newmar, should be here next week.

Need to replace the second panel behind the driver and passenger seat.

1. How to remove the upper cabinet on the passenger side. (I have only come across 3 screws.....is there more, if yes where are they hiding?)

2. Removal of the ceiling rope light and t-track. (do you remove the rope lighting first to reveal screws in the t-track?

3. Since this panel just happens to be the one with the most penetrations, is it best to create a cardboard template to lay on top of the new replacement panel?

4. Removal of the damaged panel. What is the safest way to remove without damaging anything that might be hidden from view?

5. Installation of new panel, how to secure to support grid. I heard there is an issue with the paper backing.

Any information is greatly appreciated.

Zac, have you requested any asistance for instructions from Newmar?
Strip lighting goes to passenger side above cabinets and crown molding.
Newmar would have to give info on removing panels and reattaching to ceiling joists 16' ON CENTER.
Cabinets are screwed into the 16" metal studding and screws could be inside base of cabinet panels that would have to be removed.
I would enjoy the summer and make a appointment with Newmar between JAN & MARCH with a 15% discount on labor and let them do the job, if you have had water damage to these panels stuff in ceiling area above may cause you more problems than you would want to handle.
Which ever way you decide good luck.

I bought a used 2001 MADP that had a leak that caused some damage to the panels you are replacing. The dealer ( an independent )repaired the leak and the panels n the cieling.
I did not see them do the work but there was little sign of the work that was done.
While that does not help you, my point is that there are probably lots of RV repair places that could walk you through the process.
Newmar may have responded to you by now.
