Could anyone post their experience with a 3330 or 3331 Ventana, 28,000 GVWR? Any other feedback about this model would be appreciated since I am looking at them as a potential new MH. Thanks

Jim,

Since nobody has posted an answer, yet, I'll try and draw a parallel to my KSDP.

I have an 03 Kountry Star 34', with 2 slides, with the Cummins ISB engine and Allison 3000 six speed trans. The GVWR is 28k.

I have gotten 10 mpg (on the flats at 55)but the average is lower.

The MH handles quite well for a "shorty". The ISB is a little weak when pulling the Jeep behind it on grades but it is acceptable. If I had a choice I would have opted for the Cat 330 or the ISC engine.

I think the 03 KSDP chassis is comparable to the Ventana until they switched to the Spartan chassis. Based on comments I have heard from others the Spartan should have been an upgrade.

From what I have seen (looked at them seriously prior to purchasing the used model I currently have)the Ventana is a very nice "entry" level coach. I may consider upgrading in a couple of years and it will probably be on my interest list.

Ed

Hi Jim,
The lack of replies may be to the Ventana being a new Brand. There may not be enough experience with owners to post what you need with some accuracy. Similar to Ed's information I give you the "low end" view.

My signature coach has an an ISC 330. I am moving 34K lbs down the road (this is coach and toad). The coach has 21K miles and has been all over the Eastern USA. My speeds are 62 MPH on the Interstate and what ever the speed limit is on secondary roads. I do not take fuel measurements at each tank fillup, I just take readings. About every 2-3K miles I will make the calculation. The coach has averaged 7.4 MPG. My guess is you should be somewhere between Ed and me if you travel around 60 MPH.

Thanks for the replies so far. I am looking at moving up from my Damon DP to a Newmar due to its quality construction. High power is not important to me but I prefer a respectable MPG. I would really hate to go below 9. It appears that the ISB is the answer and that is what I have now and get 10+ MPG.

Jim,
You are welcome.

All things being equal:

speed

front surface area

weather

terain

maintenance[/list]
It comes down to weight. Know the traveling weight of the coach and toad. This will provide some insite into the MPG.

bIG fAN 300 PH

SOUTH WEST FLORIDA ventana 2007 puchased jan o7

There is a big fan that comes on approx every 2 miles regardless of speed or conditions & shuts off approx 1/4 to 1/2 miles
My mileage drops from 12.5 down to 9.5 and averages 10
The only air this motor gets is from the road and tires as the rad is in the back.
The word is that this is designed and that is the way it is.
what happened to the thermostat that opens and closes and only when it could NOT do the job in heavy traffic or climbing mountains, then the fan comes on???????

I own a 07 VTDP 3936. It's been ins storage all winter but is being readied today to go to the road. The current MPG readout shows about 6.5 also but that is all in town, cold mileage. I am anxious to get it on the road and see what gives. Great to see some fellow VTDP owners here and let's keep this thread going.

We will be taking delivery of our new Ventana DP 3933, Salsa in and Salsa out, quad slide, King bed, Whirlpool washer and Whirlpool Dryer on May 3rd and 4th. The Salsa Gypsy arrived at the dealer last Friday. We went up to see her on Saturday and were very pleased. Thanks to everyone on the forum who provided so much useful information! We can hardly wait to get on the road!
