Curious

How many MPG (US) do you mange to get at speeds not exceeding 60 mph (or 100 kph) on you MH - My DSDP gets roughly 7 mpg with my Pontiac Vibe in the back - good thing it carries 150 US gallons !!

Ours is Older , a 1998 DSDP with the Mechanical C 8.3 Engine. we Tow a 2 wd Tracker. Last Big trip averaged 10.54 mpg over 6,500 Miles. Now about 1/2 of that was driving in Mexico using the High Sulphur Diesel Fuel. I can tell You that the ULSD Fuel sold in the USA and Canada does Not yield the same mileage even when using an additive. Unfortunately that's the price we pay for "Saving The Planet"!

We have an '04 Newmar KSDP 3904, C-7, 330 Cat and tow a Grand Vitara 4WD. We have never gotten less then 9.37 and usually average around 10.2. ~ 65MPH, Economy Mode, no cruise in the hills and minimal gen. use.
While this is actual mileage, the computer will tell us we are averaging around 8mpg.

I had a '02 DSDP with a Cummin ISC 350. I towed a Tahoe or a S2000 Honda. The average mileage seemed to be about the same 7.4 MPG with either.

I have an 07 Essex pulling a Hummer H2 at 65mph. On my current trip, over 11,000 miles and never resetting the computer, I am getting 6.4 mpg!

Do I win?

We have a 05 3910 with 4 slides and tow a 4000# Jeep Liberty. Cummins 330 hp engine
we average between 6.7-7.1 mpg. Drive like we have no brakes, with means we keep a good distance between us and the vehicle in front of and always look ahead at traffic lights and than coast up to the traffic in front of us at red lights, only use exhaust brake on mid or steep declines and keep the speed between 58-62 mph.

That's real good! She's a keeper if that's your normal consumption.

Interesting responses......always thought diesels had a little better mpg numbers. Most of these quoted rival my gasser V-10 which gets 7.5 towing @ 60-65 mph.

Part of the fuel consumption on a diesel when compared to a gas rig, is the DP weighs nearly 50% heavier than the gas. The frame is way heavier as is the engine and tranny. The axles and suspension is way heavier etc. So, if measured by MPG per ton, the disesel is way better than the comparable gas rig.

I'm surprised too that the numbers aren't a little higher but I think it makes me feel better about my 7.1mpg. I was kind of concerned I had a problem with my coach but not it sounds more like I'm somewhere in the norm overall.
