Muffler

Was underneath the coach today and noticed the muffler is rusting quite a bit. I have read here that some members have used straight pipes, while others have used after market mufflers. Looking for some recommendations from folks who have replaced their muffler and how difficult the change out was. Concerned that the straight pipe route might be too noisy. Also not sure if the reduced back pressure would negatively effect the engine. Before I went that route I think a call to Cummins would be advisable. Thanks in advance.

We replaced the stock Spartan ISM muffler with a straight thru 5 inch performance muffler and pick up over 1 psi in turbo boost plus maybe 1 or 2 mph on 6 plus percent grades. There is a slight increase in noise but not a problem. Other then a little more noise when on jake brake as far as cost and performance the way to go.
