Went to pull all the slides in this morning to head over to Arcadia and the street side BR slide wouldn't come in all the way...
Called Carl and first thought was to turn up the potentiometer which didn't work, then we swapped the wires and tried the front control box...When neither thing worked he said he'd get with Tom and call me back...I then figured I would run the slide back all the way out and see what I could see....
On each ram there is a PVC pipe that runs in and out as a raceway for wires for the room.
As I inspected these rams something weird caught my eye....The PVC pipe for the rear most raceway is visually bent in a vertical "v" configuration,as if something stopped it from going all the way in and the ram simply bent it.
Carl is supposed to be trying to arrange a possible service trip from a tech from North Trail,so I'm OUT OF SERVICE again...
My buddy Murray also noticed a real "slop" of grease on the outside of the hub cap for the tag axle and his comment was to get them to check it as he felt it may be a bad axle seal slinging the grease out....
Supposed to be in Arcadia by tomorrow, hope this works out!!
As the title indicates,my patience (what's left of it) is wearing very thin....

Bob, Sorry to hear of the problem. Hopefully they will send out Terry, who drives a North Trail truck. He is factory trained and is the best I've seen outside of Essex factory service. He can fix anything, and I do mean anything on any Newmar coach.

Bob, I admire your patience. You've had more problems than any one person should have. The fact that it's an Essex makes it so much harder to swallow.

Bob,
Peter is correct. Terry is an outstanding tech for Newmar coaches. However, the absolutely best tech in the world (as close to walking on water that you can get) is Scotty. They, most likely will not send Scotty, but if push comes to shove, request him. Pappy is their other super star.

Update:
Now waiting for North Trail to send a tech here to look at coach, but according to Scott the service manager it may be the morning before they get to me...
Looks like I may not make the Arcadia rally start tomorrow after all...
Not sure where I will sleep with the coach tomorrow night as I've been told this is the last night I can stay here...
As patience with this coach is wearing thin,I am readdressing the issue of possibly moving into a London Aire.

Jeff called back and said he had made arrangements for tech from North Trail to come out,but that he had no idea when the tech would be here, maybe as late as noon...
Emphasis will be on getting the slide in and moving the coach to North Trail to have issue addressed.
Toad is loaded in trailer, and I'm not sure what will happen next.

Newmar should make you a "deal you can't refuse"
if that's what it takes to satisfy you.

Dirk, when I was in Nappanee I looked at the demonstrator, which they've obviously would like to get rid of...
I have since decided that I already own a NEW coach, I bought a NEW coach and I am not interested in the demonstrator.
I would however think that Newmar would be more than willing to "step up to the plate" out of their good will and give me the opportunity to purchase a London Aire at a reasonable discount.
I have discussed this with the owner of North Trail and I am hoping he can communicate this to the powers to be in Nappanee.
North Trail happens to have a London Aire in stock.... Let's see where the chips fall but I can assure you I've lost all faith in this coach.
I'm trying to put this behind me....

Bob,
I sure hate hearing you're having additional problems with the rig, no doubt it's extremely frustrating. Hopefully North Trail will have you on your way early tomorrow.
Regarding swapping up to a London Air, I'd bet money that it would have 'issues' too. In my opinion, throwing more money at the problem isn't going to make it get any better. Seems the problem is one of quality control and if Newmar isn't putting the quality into a rig in the price range of an Essex, which I'm guessing at about half a million dollars, I doubt they'd be putting any more quality into one costing a quarter of a million dollars more.
I'd like to think trading would solve your problems but I really doubt it would solve anything.

I really do feel bad for you Bob. You are a huge proponent for Newmar and you seem to have gotten a lemon which shouldn't happen at this level.
I spent 15 years in the auto industry helping the domestic makers try to catch up in strategy, quality and process to the Japanese makers. I have some real opinions about what's going on in the RV industry. I will wax poetically in another post sometime.
On another note and out of the generosity of my heart, I would be willing to trade straight up for my DSDP. It has a fridge that almost works and a neat hopping up and down when you hit 50mph. Sort of like magic fingers for the whole coach. That coupled w/the rattles in the coach, it's like you have your own one man band behind you while driving.
Let me know what you think. Of course given all the problems w/your coach, you'd have to throw in the Hummer. I'll throw in free camping all this winter at my campground here near Buffalo.

No better time to use the line "Do you know who I am ?" An owner of a popular rv website has all these problems and Newmar is playing footsie with you. Dazzle with diamonds not baffle with, you know the rest.

I have heard of several Newmar "buybacks" of problem coaches, however I can't recall any specifics to pass on.
I would think to get a "special deal" other than a straight buyback you'll end up talking to the brass at Newmar, Dick Parks, or the Miller who has resumed control of the company.
Richard has a good point as the London Aire is a new line, and so pricey that we may not hear from any owners, if there are any yet.
All of us thought the Essex was above these kinds of problems.
Good luck, my friend.
