I posted here a week ago that I was trying to decide between the Newmar Allstar and the Monaco Knight. I drove to Phoenix to look at a Allstar after already driving the Monaco. Here is my personal opinion of the Allstar.
Likes- The outside of the coach is beautiful.
The sleeping capacity is unmatched in a class A.
The master has a loft over it, but you can still stand up and not bump your head on the ceiling.
The drive is second to none. I loved the way it handled.
Dislikes- The enging is noisey if you are setting in the coach.
The slide out is slow and has a brace bar that you have to disengage before you slide out.
You also have to make sure the drivers chair is out of the way before you slide it out.
The cabinetry looked cheap to me. That is a personal opinion.
There is virtually no outside storage.
The hook ups are under the slide unit.
The kitchen table has a leaf that you fold down to get out of the way to go past it if the slide is in and it is very shakey at best.
Overall I didn't like the unit. I wanted to, we have a family of 5 and the floor plan was awesome, but it had to many things that I knew I would dislike in the long run.

Have had all your dislikes on 3 coachs still have one. If you had the coach you would learn what operations would be required first, hook ups done before opening slide for instance and after a while it would be a matter of routine.
The slides work slowly to be sure they will seat correctly when opened or closed. Never had a leak or stuck slide.
As to cabinets they could be the cheaper ones options may have the upgraded version. Same with kitchen table. You have to remember Dealer ordered coach with his options that he thinks he can sell on HIS price. Most coachs are ordered by you as to the options you would want than built by Newmar for you. .
As to engine noise it is mid coach and not rear, not sure you hear in coach or from outside but maybe some added sound deading material that Newmar could provide.
There are other coach Mfg's that provide setups with bunks maybe these will work for you.
I wish you good luck in your quest its not easy but your doing the right thing before handing over that BIG check.
Brace bar has been around along time, its something that will not brake down thats automatic. Yes I have hit the drivers chair.
As to storage you do loose alot because of the bedroom set up.

Lane, Did you look at the 4154 FP? It has the two bunks and TONS of storage with the super storage area under the Master stateroom.

We just took delivery on our 4153(with garage), it is unbelivable! We have converted garage into second bedroom with storage for the Harley and Washer/Dryer area! Don't know what kind of engine noise you heard as we drove three(including ours)-no noise-in fact the service tech at Newmar said he was surprised as he felt it was as quiet as any DP. The automatic lockout slideout arms are optional and we do not have them-no delay!

Lane, I agree with what Roger and Dave have said, especially given that this particular coach may have been ordered that way by the dealer.

IRT having to move the driver or passenger seat before moving the slide, even in my Essex I have to make sure the seats are out of the way,as well as cabinet or closet doors closed as those slideout mechanisms only do what YOU tell them to do and if something's in the way.....CRUNCH!!

With the advent of our multi-slide coach floorplans there's going to be "some" responsibility placed on the coach operator to keep things safe...

My daughter calls the coach recorded message by name......Lucy, and as Lucy says, "the lock arms are unlocking...please be certain all doors, chairs and other objects are clear of the slideout area".

If you really liked several things about the coach, why not contact a dealer and see what options you can order to meet your tastes?
