Hi all,
We're in Michigan heading South but the forecast further en route calls for freezing rain and snow so we're not real motivated to head into that and are in no hurry.
The coach is winterized and so far we've stayed in motels but are thinking of stopping in Nappanee to stay at Newmar's campground and see where the coach was "born". Phil Stilley tells me we're welcome but is it realistic to overnight in 15 degree temperatures which we've never done before.
I know that Newmar is closed down right now which is unfortunate so any suggestions on how to kill some time in the area would be welcome, and if anybody is there it would be great to hear from you.

Hi Bob, You finally got rolling south. 15 F. degree camping should be no problem in your coach. Keep the funace on and the basement switch on. There should be lots of space at Camp Newmar now. You need to unwinterize and get some water in the tank to be able to enjoy it as there are no washrooms available there when they are closed. There may be access to the welcome center via code, but I'm not sure. Where in the south are you headed?
Also, welcome to the forum.
Peter

I have camped at Newmar in sub-zero temps more than once. You'll be fine. Make sure you are full of propane.
If you search this forum there are pages and pages of things to do while in Nappannee.
One diversion for an afternoon is the RV Hall of Fame.

I think the only issue you have is that the tours would stopped in Dec. I am not sure when they were starting back up. I have stayed at Newmar down to 0deg plus wind chill with no coach issues.

WELCOME Bob Hunter to the Newmar forum and irv2.
As everyone mentioned no problem just make sure plenty of fuels and keep compartment access holes closed. As long as heat is on could use fresh water in system or just flush with RV Anti until you get to warmer weather.
Have a safe trip enjoy the forums and do post often.

I was at Camp Newmar last week in -1 degree temps with no problems. Service/parts are open and the lounge is open in the building by the hookups. We left last Saturday and are currently visiting family in AL where the temps are supposed to be 70+ tomorrow.

I personlly LOVE to visit the northern Indiana area. Elkhart, Shipshewana, Goshen, etc. are all really enjoyable to visit. DON'T miss the Amish museum in Shipshewana! Also there is a really neat Amish hardware store there that is really neat.
In Elkhart there is lots of RV stuff to see. There is a Piano factory that gives factory tours, etc. Lots of stuff to see.
IMHO it is a particularly neat area to visit.
