We have a 2006 Kountry Star Diesel Pusher as you can see in our signature. A couple of weeks ago, we had the bedspread cleaned. The tag on the bedspread said to "Dry Clean Only".

After it was "cleaned" and we tried to put it on our bed, it was at least a foot too short and 8 inches or so too narrow. it shrank during cleaning, and we don't believe it was drycleaned.

We priced a new bedspread and it is $320+.

The dry cleaners want the original measurements of the spread. The bed measurement "queen size" is 60" by 80", but that is not the measurement of the spread.

My wife has talked to several people at Newmar and no one can seem to help. She has since talked to people at Ascott (people who make the bedspreads), and they are checking it out. We don't know if we'll hear from them or not.

If any of you have a fairly new Newmar coach, please measure your spread before you take it to the cleaners, and be very careful who you choose to clean it.

Our bedspread had the attached pillow sham on it, but the wife removed it. However, that should not have made a difference in the cleaning procedures.

If anyone has any information on this, please post the information, or call us on our Verizon cell phone at 804-305-2278.

Thanks.

I have an 05 KSDP with the 60X80 Queen bed. Before I take the measurements please tell me from where to where do you want the measurements.
1. The bottom is fitted. Do you want the measurement from the fitted corners or from the very end of the fabric?
2. The bedspread goes to the head of the bed. Then it doubles back and there is an overlap fabric so pillows can be placed under the overlap flat. Do you want the measurement from the answer in question #1 to the top of the bed or to include the overlap for the pillows?

I know, this sounds as complicated as doing taxes, sorry.

Gary,

My wife finally got an answer of sorts from the Ascot people. She had to call them a couple of times, but finally got a hold of someone that told her something.

They said they measure the spreads 60" x 80" with a 14" drop.

So, she started with the 80" length and added 14" which would make the spread 94" long. Then she took the 60" width with a 14" drop added to each side and figured that would equal 88", so she came up with an overall measurement of 94" long and 88" wide, which was what she told the cleaners.

If you could verify that her information is correct (or at least close) by measuring your spread side to side and top to bottom, we would greatly appreciate it.

Bob Gregory, thank you for your help in keeping this post alive, too.

Regards,

Ronnie

Gary,

I almost forgot.....the flap you mentioned on the spread is what they call a "pillow sham". Measure the spread as if the pillow sham does not exist. My wife removed it on our spread.

Thanks,

Ronnie

Can't give you measurements since we reduced the bed length to 75"(which allowed us to increase walkway by 5"). DW didn't like the bedspread that came with the coach(way to busy-switched to a more usable comforter) so she cut it up and made decorator pillows for the couch, etc. as we completely redid the "Newmar interior".

Thanks Gary. We appreciate you taking your time to measure your spread.

Our spread was not at all busy and had no designs on it. It was a plain colored quilted spread. Very warm and comfortable. We really liked it.
