All we hear today is negative things in not only the RV industry, but pretty well everything else. Let's not discuss stocks! But there are many good things that happen each day, to all of us. Some of these things involve our passion, RVing, or more specifically, Newmar-ing. Guys, ladies, let's share some of the positive events or things in our Newmar owners life, and for that matter any make rig you own, Monaco, Fleetwood, Tiffin, National, Alfa, C.C., etc., etc. (Please don't slam me because I didn't mention your make, just join in. So, here's one from me.
I was at Spartan in Charlotte, Michigan on my way down to Florida. I went for my regular full maintenance, oils, filters, etc. They adjusted things I did not even ask for, nor had a problem with. All these adjustments were done without charge. They are excellent people servicing an excellent product. A little special thanks should go to Chris McCord, but that may be unfair to all the top tech's that also work there. But, thanks Chris, anyway.
The next stop south was Newmar. What can I say? Their service is still top drawer without any change, even with the economy. The service personnel have not changed at all. The same people, the same number. Only the days per week have changed, 4 instead of 5. Production, however, have had layoffs. But these layoffs have not affected the general moral or certainly, the quality. The Newmar quality we knew in the past has not changed. Sure, we have all experienced issues, but most are supplier related. Still made good by Newmar's people.
So let's hear some good stuff, about Newmar, or any other RV manufacturer or supplier. I know I have many, many more great stories of service beyond the expectations. What about you.
The glass is still half full, not half empty. I feel great about my rig and how it is operating. The more I think and write about it, the better I feel about the whole value of our passion, RVing. This is also good for the manufacturers, their employees and the industry in general.
Have you told your RV that you love it, today????
So, let's hear from you, the RV market has finally reached the bottom, now it's only aimed up. It's up to us.

Well by golly I had some good news this week!
My alternator went out on my motorhome. (That's not the good news, thats the BAD news)
I called the local freightliner place and they gave me an estimate of $ 1,00--1,200. (Thats MORE bad news, but Just Wait!)
I called a young man who had just opened a new shop doing automotive/diesel work. HE came out to my campground, took off my alternator, drove it 25 miles in, had it rebuilt by the top rebuilder in the area, brought it BACK out, reinstalled it, tested it.
It was $ 242 for the rebuild and $ 70 for his labor!
I was astounded! You be that I will tell everyone in this small town what good work he does!

Bad news is those who sold their RVs due to fuel prices.
Good news is the price now of fuel-off to Alaska next year.

Dav5942, you got it right!
Good news, NOTHING wrong with my motorhome (knock wood)
Good news, I will also be going to Alaska next year.
GREAT news, the cost of going to Alaska next year will be SUBSTANTIALLY less than estimated.
LIFE is GOOD!

The first week in May we went to Newmar for our final warranty repairs and their technician told us to list every little problem and they would fix them. A great company and great technicians.
Then we roamed around the mid-west, went to Wyoming and Montana, toured western Canada, up the Alaska Highway to the Yukon, down the Cassiar Highway, and across Canada to Michigan.
We stopped at Spartan for routine service and once again were very happy with their service and prices.
We are now in the sunny south for the winter. During our summer travels we drove the Dutch Star about 8,000 miles and averaged 8.34 mpg and we can live with that. During those 8,000 miles we only had one problem - the battery tray latch broke and I fixed it in 15 minutes with a drill and four small bolts.
We have been very happy with the quality of our 2005 Dutch Star and presently there is not one item that needs repairs. This motorhome is a keeper.
Canada was very expensive this year with the USD and CND being equal. The most we paid for diesel fuel was $6.202 per gallon and we even paid $32 a night to boondock in Canada National Parks.
We're in our tenth year of fulltiming in two Dutch Stars and life continues to be great.

Good news, Regular Unleaded is almost to $2.50 a gallon in Oregon . Can't wait for the bottom to completely fall out of the futures market.

We all should look for good news...heck if I wake up its good news. The only thing besides our address we can change is our attitude.
Keep yours tuneup and tune out negative people.

Bad news: the rv-ing season is over for us. It spit snow flurries yesterday. We're winterizing this weekend.
Good news: regular gas was $2.17/gal here today. It figures, just when the season is over, the price of fuel goes down. You fulltimers & snowbirds enjoy the lower prices for me, ok?

Naw, you just need to upgrade to an all season RV, like a pickup camper

After weeks of hassling with Dish Network they finally got my HD service, and HD receiver, turned on that's im my motorhome. No more lost signals, show intro's or endings, when switching between satellites thanks to MotoSat.
