Does anyone have a schematic for the 12vdc flow from the batteries to the 12vdc fuse pnl on a 94 Newmar Dutch Star. When plugged into 120vac everything works but when unplugged no power to the fuse pnl. The "use/store" button is pressed and can hear solenoid but the red light on the panel always stays on indicating "use" but no 12vdc to lights, etc. Steps work both ways. New batteries but only showing 12v at the batteries. Is it possible that they are too low to "unlatch" the "use/store" relay? Also, if the red light indicates the unit is in "use mode" why don't I have the 12vdc to the fuse pnl? Is there maybe a fuse between the bateries and the 12v pnl and if so where will I find it?

There usually is in fact a fuse or breaker, Question: Is your rig a Gasser? (I know gassers better)

Have your partner operate the use/store switch while you track down that solenoid

If it's in a box marked INTELLETEC BATTERY CONTROL CENTER which on my gasser is up front under the "HOOD" there may be a pair of POST TYPE circuit breakers on the bottom of the box. Press up,may be hard to press, to reset both of 'em.

You should feel and may hear the CLICK as it resets

Also, what kind of converter do you have... Some converters have a relay in them and all power flows THROUGH the converter relay. IN these converters a blown fuse will cause the exact symptom you have.

The MH is a Dutch Star pusher and it is my aunt and uncles. Don't know what kind of converter it has as it is 60 miles from me. Will check it out next trip. I talked him through finding the relay...says it clicks whenever he pushes the store/use switch but the light stays on at the switch indicating "use" and no power flows to the coach. I too have a gasser...

I tried for weeks and weeks to obtain useful wiring diagrams from Newmar. I finally gave up.

Found the problem...by the way...the converter is an IOTA MTS 55 , same as my gasser.
First off...there was a breaker tripped between the 12vdc and the 12vdc panel.
Secondly, and why I don't know, the battery disconnect relay was clicking like it was latching and unlatching but power was still there. Found that if I removed the wire labeled "cb radio" that was on the load side of that relay that I was able to unlatch the relay when the store button was pressed...all works fine...don't know what that wire labeled "cb radio" had to do with it. There isn't a cb radio in the coach anymore so don't know where the other end went or what it as connected to. Don't need it anyway.
Thanks for the help..............

stubeje,

I am tracking a similar problem on my 99 Hurricane. Could you be more specific on which breaker was tripped? Is it a breaker in the Intelec box or in a different fuse panel?

Thanks,

Greg

gregd...the breaker is near the coach batteries disconnect relay...there are three but one has a reset on the end (or bottom in my case). These relays are about 1/2 in. wide and 2" long and they are black. If you feel the bottom and it is tripped you will feel it sticking out about 1/8 of an inch. This breaker feeds the 12vdc to your 12volt panel(with the small 12volt fuses) that feed all of your 12volt things. ie. lights/water pump/etc.
If you don't know where this relay is just have someone push the "store"/"use" buttons in the coach while you stand up front (looking behind the hood)and listen for the "clicking". These breakers should be near this relay. One of the large battery cables going to this relay should also go to this breaker. Hope this helps...

Did you get a DVD with your coaches documentation package? I have a `05 5er and I had a DVD with my owners documentation. If you do, look at the DVD with MS-Explorer, there are a bunch of PDF files. These are the wiring and plumbing diagrams for your coach along with other specific info. My DVD had each 5er model Newmar manufactured in `05 and the specific floorplan under each model. I went ahead and printed all of the diagrams for my coach and keep them with the Owners Manual and DVD for easy reference. I have referenced the DC and AC diagrams more than once.

K-STAR...Yes...did get all of the documentation with my then new 2005 Newmar but was trying to find prints for a 1994 Dutch Star pusher of my uncles and I found his problem. Mine works the same as his only the relays and such are in a different place(naturally). Newmar even used much of the same relays/converter etc. on the 94 as the 05 coach.
