New 2018 Canyon Star 3513

We picked up our new Canyon Star on Monday and headed straight from the dealer to a nearby RV park for a two-night "shakedown cruise" stay.

We love the layout and had a great time staying in our new digs.
What a difference from our previous class C motorhome.

We didn't make too many errors in operating things and a few things did operate rather weird on the first try but managed to get them to work on a second or third attempt.

We'll have to get used to the "slides first - levelers second" procedure as we've always done the opposite on our old motorhome.

One question on the "roller" type day and night shades.
One of the shades on a small bedroom-slide window does not go all the way up when released from the closed position. It stops about 2 inches from going all the way up.
How are those adjusted?

We've also got three windows where the night shade rolls down on the window side of the day shade. So if the day shade is down, you have to raise it in order to put the night shade down. All the rest of the windows have the night shade rolling down on the house side of the day shade, which makes a lot more sense to us.

On the shade, try pulling it down and then assist it going up, I have found that if this works it will be fixed. Congratulations on the new NEWMAR [emoji898][emoji322][emoji898][emoji322]

Hi and welcome! Congratulations on your new MH! We love our CS! We're still learning how these rigs work.

The issue with slides first and level second works. Don't ask me how I know. it's been flawless since we've used that method.

Re: your blind that won't go all the way up-I'd ask your dealer to adjust it.

Regarding the issue of some of the daylight blinds being behind the night shades-I can't really recall how ours are set up (I'll check this weekend) but it sounds like an installation failure. Again, I would ask your dealer to fix the ones your unhappy with. These are warranty issues.

If you want to try to fix them yourself the first thing you'll need to do is remove the fabric valance to see how easy the adjustment is. I'm guessing with a screw gun/driver anyone with simple skills could do this.

Good luck with your new MH and enjoy all the travels in it!

Congratulations!

I’ve never paid attention to which side our night shades are located. I will have to pay attention next week on our trip.

Congrats on your new CS. We too have the CS 3513. We love it and it fits the two of us just fine. We just returned Sunday from 18 nights out and 1800 miles that included some minor service work at Nappanee. Their service department was great. Washed it today and I’m ready to go again. Slides out first and jacks down second always works. Safe travels.

Congrats on your new Canyon Star. The manual for my CS, Equalizer Auto Level system says to level first, slides second. What is supposed to be the difference?

The extend slides then level applies to motorhomes with Full Wall Slides.

re: slides then levelers?

One would think that on a completely level coach the slides would retract and extend more effeciently with less chance of binding. My previous coach, Winny adventurer 38t stressed the importance of leveling first. I Didn't think it would be different on our Canyon Star? However, the winny had 2 18' super slides v 4 on the canyon star

I went through this with my 2017 Bay Star. The only time I had a slide problem was when I did not level first.

The slides first rule really applies to full wall slides on coaches with air suspensions.

My Bay Star has one window where the night shade is next to the window. That window is over the sink and doesn’t have the trim pieces along the sides. Having the night shade next to the window gives you more privacy in that situation.

You have a new coach and your dealer should take care of these minor problems, but these are the adjustment instructions for the shades on my Bay Star:

I've been leveling first and then slides out on our 3406 as well. Then last time out, I did it in reverse. Didn't notice any difference whatsoever. I did check gaps around all the slides before extending though. This seems to be discussed more in the context of the full wall slide models and in particular the diesel pushers that sit on air bags.
