Thanks
New Aire comes standard with the SurgeGuard, 50A Hardwire - Model 40350-RVC Automatic Transfer Switch. The unit is networked to SilverLeaf.

Dometic 8700 Series Macerator Toilet on the 3343.

The coach was dealer configured. Everything is what I would have ordered except the goofy Patio Hammock Package. Will never use it.

turbopilot, I used Temecula Valley Service (in Murrieta) to do my solar, Magnum, lifeline, etc because Eric the owner showed me the wiring quality and installation neatness they used on several RVs. I furnished Eric a spreadsheet of the hardware I wanted and what I expected as a result. He understood I wanted a first class instalation; not a low cost corner cutting job. It has worked flawlessly for almost 6 years.

Regarding fuel tank size, how many hours do you want to drive per day, how often to take a rest stop for food, walk to avoid blood clots, go pee, and maybe take a nap will make the 75 gallon tank adequate. The Cassier highway route to Alaska in 2009 was the longest stretch between diesel stations driving a Sprinter Class B (500 mile range at home) was not a problem because the speed limits were lower and the mileage was better. Returning home in mid-Oct some businesses had closed but driving 500 mile days, only 1 fuel stop per day, was very tiring because of the low speed limits on the winding 2 lane roads.

A Flying J fuel stop once per day may be all the driving you want each day.

I always use my Progressive surge protector even though I have built in surge protection already. The progressive model I have tells me if the wiring at the plug is correct and it is a lot faster to replace my plug in surge protector than the built in one.

Just my two cents.

Agreed on the driving time per day, I think if it were to be a factor, it would be more driving to a campsite and getting there with a 1/2 a tank, then using heat / Oasis and generator for several days. Probably won’t happen to often, just a potential week spot that can be managed by careful planning.

Thanks. I went with an AMSolar mobile contractor because I wanted to be a part of the installation. AMSolar is building a good network of fixed and mobile installers in the West.

More fuel is not so much about driving range as it is about flexibility. In an all electric coach you have the generator, Oasis and the Cummins engine all sucking from the same tank. The generator and Oasis are only allowed to draw from the first 75% of the the tank.

I got the 33'10" "short bus" New Aire to get into those places not normally visited by Newmar DP's. Smaller camping spots typically do not have 50 amp service or any electrical service at all. If you use 1/2 tank getting there you have very little diesel left to service Oasis and the generator.

If you have a transfer switch with built in surge you may run into problems with your added progressive surge also.
Do a Newmar search in irv2 search engine to find threads.

I have read of issues when Progressive is in front. But what are the issues? Does anyone have real world examples and even better an explanation for it?

I have a SOB so I have no issues. Seems some Newmar products may have issues as Stripe34 has posted.

Our DS came with the Patio Hammock equipped also. Could not understand why it would have such a thing. Pulled it out once and actually ended up enjoying it. Make sure to try it on a calm day.

turbopilot, will your solar panels be mounted on a rack that lifts them above the vents so most of the roof top is usable? Is the solar controller able to match the Magnum charer's voltage so 100+ amps are charging the battery banks? This reduces the generator run time.

I spend 4-5 months boondocking to escape So Calif heat. I top off the tank before entering the campground and from May or June to mid Sept only use about 30 gals to run gen, drive to dump, and 30 mile RT to refuel. In warm weather use the water heater in morning then shut off till next day. In Sept & Oct water heater all day and furnace as needed so I only need 10 to 15 gals to top off tank when leaving. Inverter runs 24/7 and uses 288 AH plus hours for TV, computer, etc. The solar during Sumner sunny days and produces 400 to 450 AHs

I guess we brake even on those two links, Stripe gave, one was a Discovery and the other a DSDP, there are more and different MFG's, the two he gave should cover what you should look out for.

The processor unit is a Windows Embedded based computer.
More observations on the Xite XSG3NA Infotainment Center. I discovered my coach was delivered without the WiFi dongle, so I was not able test out the WiFi features of this system.

Xite product support sent me a WiFi dongle. It took about a week. This unit will only work with a specific model of WiFi dongle only available from Xite.

Brought the unit up with WiFi then connected to with WiFi Ranger Skypro built into the New Aire. Once up the weather populated ok but I then found out that the traffic support is by subscription. Of interest the Xite XSG3NA comes with a lifetime subscription to map updates.

To activate traffic, update the software and update the maps you have to go the Rand McNally website and download an application called Rand McNally Dock to your PC or Mac. Then you remove the SD card from the head unit buried the "rats nest" of wire under the dash put it into your computer and update the card.

That all worked fine. Put the SD card back in the head unit turned it on and discovered that the WiFi functionality disappeared. Back on the phone with Xite support and after a couple of system resets, WiFi was back on line now with traffic and weather on the unit.

Have not had a chance to try out Rand McNally RVGPS on a trip. Apparently this application was designed for RV's but so far I cannot find any functionality that helps with the height and weight routing issues of a Class A RV. In the setup, the program asks for the RV parameters. But there is no reference in the documentation detailing with routing based on height and weight limitations.
