WE just bought a 2008 Allstar 4154 and have taken it for a couple of short shakedown trips, but I had a couple of questions I hope someone might be able to assist with:

The reading on the "front" air bag instrument is always at 0 when we turn on the engine after sitting a bit. Do others find the same thing, is it a normal setting? It raises to the correct setting during the warmup though.

Our service rep at the dealer didn't think it was odd. The reason I'm curious is that our Comfort Drive is not working, specifically the steering wheel does not recenter itself after a turn. The service rep agrees with this and is making us an appointment with a local service center for Spartan chassis.

Thanks,

Tom

We have found the top instrument reading does go down faster than the bottom gauge. But it will hold air for along period(many weeks) normally when sitting.

When you are traveling does it cycle on/off often?-it should not except on winding roads but even then only every 10 miles or so.

The only time I get the extremely low pressure warning is when I manually drain the tanks as part of my PM. Seems like you have a slow leak in the system.

Neither of my air gauges have ever indicated 0 after sitting for a short period.

IMHO, there is a slow leak, but I don't know the specs on air loss.

There is no relationship between Comfort Drive and the air system.

The Comfort Drive is all electric and is self contained in the steering column.

The 0 air sounds a little fishy...

No low air alarm at start up? Hmmm.. If really 0 it should beep an alarm. On a K2 it does.

Call Spartan and ask what color each of the manual air bleeds are for your rig front/rear/wet-main air tanks. I am not sure the colors are standard or not. On a K2 the colors are Gray-wet/main, Green-rear, Orange-front and the front tank on a K2 has all the accessories (air horn etc) connected to it. After the time period for a 0 reading pull the color bleed associated with that tank. If you hear a good psst sound, there is air in that tank and it's likely just a gauge/sender problem. Compare the psst sound with the other tank manual bleed valve they should psst about the same.

Again, surprised on no low-air alarm (unless MM doesn't have that) but if all the accessories are attached to the front tank you could just have a leak in one of them or its connection.

Thanks Guys! I am taking the unit in for some more service due to parts on backorder so I'll point out the potential problem described above.

The alarm does go off though at start up, though in reply to one comment above. After overnight or a few hours of parking, the alarm goes off when I start the engine because the front gauge is at 0 with the red light indicator on.

You are losing air someplace. That is not to design.
