I have a standard question I ask under two different conditions:

Someone says: IT IS THE LAW
Somone says; IT IS IN THE BIBLE

That qustion: Chapter and Verse pleas (Section and sub section)

For example.. Annoying phone calls That is Title 47 Section 227 of the US code.

I recently bought a 2008, I go through AARP Hartford. I had my older unit insured with them at an agreed value. The agent asked me the original MSRP and I estimated it at 140,000, I had previously gave them the price I paid. The agent gave me a quote at the MSRP and I immediately told them there is no way in H... they would ever give me MSRP for a six year old unit, and I was not fool enough to pay the premium for that value. We insured it for what I actually paid with no further discussion. Florida residence.

One thing you now know for sure is that this agent has lied to you at least once. Be cautious moving forward.

It was Miller Insurance. We are putting up a substantial downpayment: 44%.

It is for replacement, but I was told that it was for replacement before. It went from $1200 to $2640, Note we have a car, a truck, and a trailer on the same policy and have been with them for 3years. We have no points on our DL's and haven't had an insurance claim of any kind for at least 30 years.

I will be calling some of those suggested above, thanks for the input.

Doh!

Well I guess I'm an idiot, called around and got quotes all in the same price range. Must be a Florida thing. Apparently the first quote I got was an error, maybe due to miscommunication, who knows. Anyway, thanks again for all the information about different agents and companies.
